I have been working at Saint Francis Hospital full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Great Doctors, nurses and techs.

    Cons

Management is very disconnected from employees. As is the norm within large healthcare operations managers are not those who typically posses education and skills necessary to manage people effectively, instead they are nurses who have simply been around longer than others. Due to this rules are not applied to all employees evenly nor are punishments. New policies and procedures are instituted without notifying all employees on all shifts .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication to all employees regardless of department, team, or shift. Fair and equal implementation of policies, procedures and rules.

I worked at Saint Francis Hospital (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits. The co-workers themselves are very dedicated and tolerate a lot from their management.

    Cons

Upper management in the foodservice department is biased, opinionated and out of touch with all of their employees...except their favorites. They are runing off their best workers by putting all the blame on them in order to cover up their own incompetence.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the upper management you have in foodservice unless you want them to run your whole system into the ground.

I worked at Saint Francis Hospital full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I cant think of one thing that is good there.

    Cons

Illegal narcotic smuggling, poor hygiene unexperienced coworkers, terrible food, and a moral infrastructure that is souly based on Money. MOST of the staff does not care, they make many many mistakes including killing my best friends father by giving him type o negative blood instead of type o negative, unless you want to you or any of your family to suffer or die bring them here

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

SHUT DOWN YOUR PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A HOSPITAL IT WOULD BE MORE USEFULL AS A PARKING LOT, train your staff adequately, atleast enough not to kill everyone

I have been working at Saint Francis Hospital

    Pros

St. Francis tries to be a progressive work environment with attention to how employees are valued and treated; also there is flexibility in hours for nurses. At St. Francis things are kept up and broken things are fixed which is important to me. The process for admissions is streamlined with prefab orders that docs are encouraged to check off rather than writing out a new set of orders for every single patient which contributes to errors including leaving out important information such as diet or activity.

    Cons

Poor staffing happens at times although not as much as with other facilities. Full-time nurses who are too young and inexperienced are frequently allowed and even encouraged to be charge nurses when they clearly are not qualified. Some doctors are not respectful of nurses which makes taking care of patients more difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Strongly advise to continue in efforts to reward employees and show recognition; definitely more education is needed in those allowed to be charge nurses. Respect is a key factor in retaining employees and all nurses need to be educated in this area. Doctors also need education in the area of how to show respect for nursing staff
