    Interesting a lot of changes

Packer-operator-shift Lead-QC -shipping (Former Employee) Jackson, MI

Prosgreat employees - fair pay - safety is rated quite highly -good team work -a lot of learning tools in certain areas

Consmanagement needs to value there employees much more - very male orientated -a lot of who you know and your friends with to get any where there -job security is not present

Advice to Senior Managementneed to quite micro managing and more self empowered employees. show more respect for employees. hire full time rather then continue training temps

Performance Plastics is one of the best divisions within Saint-Gobain.

Programmer Analyst (Current Employee) Aurora, OH

ProsPeople here have a lot of passion for their work, and want to satisfy internal and external customers. Systems provide a lot of bang for the buck. Senior management literally puts safety first in every presentation to the group. Company principles are communicated, and efforts to support diversity are very visible. Parent company has been in business for 350+ years, which contributes to job security.

ConsSupport for career planning and mentoring exists, but needs work. There are too many disparate (and sometimes conflicting) portals and lists of open positions, which probably slows the time to fill a position, and thereby hinders planning and overall company strategy.

Advice to Senior ManagementSix Sigma, innovation programs, and training opportunities can all help to improve the business. But management should work more closely with employees to take lessons learned and convert them into tactical plans to support the high level strategy.

    Global organization with "family feeling"!

Talent & Development Manager (Current Employee) Aurora, OH

ProsSensitive to family/work balance. Safety is a priority! Care for the environment. Supportive of mobility for those who desire it; your career is truly in your hands. Wonderful team of people! Embraces innovation and entreprenurial spirit. Competitive total compensation packages with a bonus program and both a 401(k) and retirement accumulation plan. Company-wide recognition program is fantastic. Employee appreciation day events that often include our families. Fun, fun, fun...locations strive to make it an enjoyable work environment for all.

ConsWellness program hit a few speed bumps last year, but it seems to be getting back on track.

    So far, so good...

Innovation Program Manager (Current Employee) Aurora, OH

ProsThey really care about people. There are opportunities for working in lots of different countries, opportunities to move from one Saint-Gobain group to another. Large company, small business feel due to the many different sectors of activity and large product range. Performance Plastics is very forward thinking and strategic and is very successful. We even have an innovation department! The company also rewards its personnel well. They care about diversity, hiring only the best person for the job, regardless of colour, race, sex or creed.

ConsSame as for most large corporations: change can take time, lots of bureaucracy and paperwork. Each Saint-Gobain business has it's own feel and can be very different to navigate. The senior management team are very approachable, but not everyone gets close enough to approach. Due to the global nature, overall the company is very diverse, but at the local level, not so much. Like most manufacturing companies, there are less women at the senior management level than there should be

Advice to Senior ManagementGet the shop floor involved more often. Hire more female senior managers. Keep up the good work!

    Stay away from this company!!!

Working Stiff (Current Employee) Worcester, MA

ProsEveryone including management is really unintelligent; makes an average person really stand out. If you cant stand women or minorities its a great place... very little diversity here.

ConsNo values, lots of punch lines like world class and continuous improvement. Lots of talk but nothing gets done. The culture SUCKS! watch your back at all times... Its all about seniority here, education and experience counts for nothing.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey all truly belong here since they'll never survive anywhere else.

Good Money, Easy, but has "Favorites"

    Fabricator (Former Employee) Portage, WI

ProsGood money for people without a college degree. Also has great job security! This company does a great job with rewarding their employees for their hard work. Also they are very safety conscious. Which is also great, because not only are you safe at the work place but at home as well.

ConsNo matter how great you are at your job, If you aren't a favorite of your superiors, you are looked down upon.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook at all angles of a situations before making assumptions.

Great for growth, but get out before you burn out

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat opportunity for development and supportive of education and training

ConsDog-eat-dog politics, too many meetings, too strict on headcount and overloading salaried staff

Advice to Senior ManagementLoosen the reins and allow managers to manage including budget and headcount. Allow more fixed heads to help retain your talent before they burn out.
