    Pros

Saint Joseph has good benefits and the reward of helping peoples health was great feeling, and I loved to work with the people at all other hospitals.

    Cons

Downside of working at Saint Joseph is that you have to work holidays and weekends, and the pay was not great.

    Pros

Ideal work place for students going into nursing as you can work your way up from an aide to a med tech to a nurse while in school. Standard shift hours, over time is always available if one wants it.

    Cons

The base pay scale changed as I departed, however, it was becoming a standardized scale no matter how long someone has worked there. There are also a lot of changes in management.

    Pros

They have done a lot of renovations lately and have relatively decent equipment to work with. The people you work with are typically good and willing to help out.

    Cons

The management is very unorganized and expects perfection. There is no real positive feedback. I was there for 6 years, worked hard and pitched in during times of change and need for undesirable shifts. When it came time for promotion though I got overlooked because of silly misunderstanding with a new physician. Rates of pay could be higher.

    Advice to Management

Value your hard working employees when you realize who they are. Be more flexible and open to hearing the staff out. The amount of constant changes in protocol coupled with the high expectations is simply unrealistic. Reinforce positively, especially during low morale times or no income raise periods. It will go along way to keeping people happy.

    Pros

Salary scale in line with region.
Ample resources provided to complete tasks.
Middle management works hard to provide support.
    Good PTO package.
    Good medical and dental.

    Cons

    Discontinued pension match.
    No performance based raises.
Typical corporate bean counting and employee cuts .
Regional management and employee cut backs stresses the work force .
    Ever rising cost of benefits.
Cost of living raises don't cover the cost of living.

    Advice to Management

Allow your employee's to get an A .
Forcing employee's to do 2 or 3 jobs can bring stress up and the grade down.

    Pros

Can get health insurance working as a temp. Good transitional position and/or stable environment if you're not the breadwinner. Finance department much more professional than other departments.

    Cons

Micromanagement. Certain (most) departments managed by dictatorship. Ridiculous rules, treat respectable adults like children.

    Advice to Management

Consider who you're hiring for management positions. Too much focus on bottom line when too many people are unhappy.
