    Pros

Everyone was really nice it was an excellent place to work and I would recommend it to others.

    Cons

I don't really have any complaints except maybe that we were asked to have everyone we tutored fill out a questionnaire and sign in and out multiple times (from computer when you first came in and on paper if you wanted a tutor's help)

    Pros

Holidays and vacation benefits are great.

    Cons

HR and senior Management does not care about employees, especially Career Service Employees and Adjuncts.

    Advice to Management

Remove hostile managers -- they only bring everyone else down.

    Pros

Not a reason to work in SPC. Bosses don't support employees.

    Cons

Communication between bosses and employees is very poor. Nothing seems to get done as I read in another reviews about SPC.People don't show respect in meetings. They don't support employees to succeed and they can drop your job without telling you anything and you and your family leave with nothing. No compassion, No humanity -

    Advice to Management

Management need to support their employees. Friendly and sincere. comunication and informative. Show good manners and good actitud are a must when we are working.

    Pros

Starting salaries are ok for this area.

    Cons

You won't be promoted unless you are politically connected or related to someone in upper management. Very unethical place to work with a mentality of do as I say - not as I do. Upper management is the worse at this place- from the President, BOT, Provosts and Dept. heads.

    Advice to Management

Instead of hiring/promoting because of Who you know, you should hire/promote because of What you know.

  9. Overly conservative, limited room for advancement, but steady employment once you get your foot in the door.

    Pros

Relatively relaxed environment in terms of stress levels; decent chances to network; good experience. I found by keeping my head down, taking initiative, and being friendly, it could be an okay workplace.

    Cons

Pay is not competitive, fires and hires somewhat randomly and tends to not evaluate employees based on ability, but rather on the political climate of the moment. There seems to be a real lack of substantive clarity and values. The institution is bent on churning out more students and advancing its technical degrees, but seems increasingly oblivious to people--students, staff, instructors--in lieu of mindless programs, paperwork, and bickering. Communication is poor, and nothing seems to get done in a transparent manner. Tendency towards stasis, where one is not encouraged to improve and push oneself. Leadership seems split.

    Advice to Management

Less malarkey (inter-institution politics and gossip) and more emphasis on workplace efficiency, ability, and improvement.
