I have been working at Saipem full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The company give you opportunity to grow up quickly, lot of responsibility, very interesting job

    Cons

if you are expatriate, the rotation are bit long, very difficult to get a familly contract, only single, salary in expatriation are not so high compare of number of hour that you spend!!
HR Dpt is a real disaster, no communication, you are just a number; Italian management can be difficult for you if you are not italian too....

I have been working at Saipem full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I actually really like the people in my department, and the managers I work for.

    Cons

I simply don't earn enough. What's more frustrating is that other project secretaries and administrative assistants in the company make more than me, with the same job title.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please give people a fair salary. Give them something they can support their families, and pay their bills with! What I earn is ridiculous. I've heard from several other people that HR will try to low ball you as much as they can. I would have negotiated my salary when I was offered the job, if I had known I had that option.

I worked at Saipem full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The best thing about Saipem are the people. They are fun, knowledgeable and mostly helpful. It's a great place to start your career, to learn the trade and grow professionally.
There is a lot of variation between managers but my experience is that, as long as you do your work, they are flexible about time offs and such.

    Cons

Managers are bit always promoted because of ability. Promotions, salary increments and opportunities is not necessarily dependent on ability and performance. Decision making amongst management is not very good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more meritocratic, and stop having a one size fit all mentality

I have been working at Saipem

    Pros

Very interesting job, learning a lot. Being part of a company which is present worldwide. Multi-cultural company. Complexity of the constructions and operations is very interesting.

    Cons

Company is huge so any changes are very slow. Lower salaries than in other companies in the same business. Lack of experienced and motivated personel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more flexible, implement new technologies, take some risk. Fleet should be renewed. But it is a company that can become the greatest in business.
