    Pros

    None I can think of

    Cons

They have no ratings, research, they don't share information, there is no management direction or leadership and if you do not do it their way, you have no chance

    Cons

    Promises made-not kept. Absurd budgets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house. This leadership does not live up to corporate values.

    Pros

Flexibility, good management and never micro managed. People vary but overall are good
Benefits are ok but could be better.

    Cons

They do not pay emloyees what they should be making.
Can be way to political at times.

    Pros

Members of staff who are quite professional no matter what.
Opportunity to listen to great ministries on the air.

    Cons

Intentionally ethnically homogenous staffing, so comfortable that minority employees have been told racist jokes.
Women are not treated as equals.
Morality is second to income, and a number of employees who would not bend their morality have been eliminated or quit.
People are second to income, and an excellent, profitable employee was let go rather than simply shown the personal appreciation that would have kept this employee in place.
Complaints to corporate management are bounced back to local without action.
Complaints to the Salem ethics resource were deemed merely low morale despite material evidence to the contrary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee complaints are not always mere noise; people matter, and valued employees will contribute more than those spinning their wheels.

    Miserable and overall depressing.

Former Employee - Board Operator in Tampa, FL

    Pros

    Company has excellent Christian programs.

    Cons

Inexperienced management singles out particular employees and makes their lives miserable. The company does not hire the best qualified person for a job opening. There are intangibles that are unwritten policies that Salem Communications follows to hire and promote friends of present employees and then disregard any intelligent desicion making in the hiring process. I would rate this company as the absolute worst employer in America.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should treat all employees with respect and dignity. Favoritism given towards employees that are playing office politics every day places this company's Christian message that broadcasts in their programs as being hypocritical when management communicates a mean spirited and overcritical company policy.

    Pros

    It's has a Christian format

    Cons

The Christian format doesn't necessarily transfer to the inner office management style.

Current Employee - Account Executive in Louisville, KY

    Pros

Some quality national programs. Nice facilities.

    Cons

Station management bends the truth to fit its present needs, but without thinking about the effect on the future. Management allows their personal needs to interfere with the business of the properties. Retains troublesome and troubled employees at the expense of the organization. Creates adversaries and mistrust amongst existing staff as a kind of perverted motivational tool.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Serve one master.

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in New York, NY

    Pros

    Environment is small and manageable
Flexibility has been a huge positive
Support of management on many different levels has been very evident

    Cons

Salaries could be more competitive in the larger cities
The lack of research capabilities makes the job more challenging than it needs to be.

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Richmond, VA

    Pros

As a small company, Salem Web Network employees are welcoming and very helpful to each other. Work camaraderie is great, and lunches are flexible to enjoy the great restaurants in the area.
If job fulfillment is important to you, you'll probably find it here in their commitment to growing a Christian space online.
Work flow is loose, so your time/projects are up to you to manage and there's little red tape.

    Cons

SWN is very aware that their work environment is great, and relies on intangible benefits like this to keep employees. Salaries are not competitive, raises must be asked for and take forever to get approved.
If you are used to structure and process, this open work flow might frustrate you.
As a small company, there's not a lot of room for upward mobility unless you're in sales.
