Advice to Senior Management
Real managers aren't just people who do a good job, they are people who know how to communicate with and motivate diverse personalities. Give training to mangers and if they are managing people give them the title; my manager was dissatisfied with her role and was more focused on figuring out how to manage her own career than she was with managing me. She left her position, but not without some passive aggressive angst. I got mismanaged as a result. I have thirteen years of tech experience, mainly between two of the more successful tech companies in the valley, and have been in management before, so I know what I am talking about. The best companies aren't just interested in growth and domination, they are interested in effectively managing real people.
Pros
Great compensation and the top performers are among the best sales people I've ever worked with in my Career
Cons
A lot of inequality in how territories are broken out
Management is generally good but there are people who have been promoted into management roles because of tenure, not because they're actually good managers
Pros
flexible, pretty good pay, philanthropic ethos
Cons
work can be stressful and tedious sometimes
Advice to Senior Management
Can't really say. Seem to be doing everything pretty well. The philanthropic efforts the company makes from the top down make me feel better about working at SFDC than I would at most places.
Pros
Great pay, flexible work environment and friendly coworkers. Furthermore, they are very flexible with work-from-home arrangements. And the products rock.
Cons
Almost too fast-paced for their own good. Due to complexity and rapid release schedule of new features, software is difficult to support.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend some time to focus on product usability and stability. The new products are great, but don't lose track of the old ones.
Pros
Very supportive company culture, full of young talented individuals; company's innovative nature is second to none; growth of the company is second to none; management is extremely supportive; career advise is available at any time; great compensation and bonus, plus long-term incentive plans; health benefits is the best I've heard of and company doesn't charge you for it; company also offers superb training allowances and inhouse trainings throughout the year; taking time off is easy and there's good work-life balance;
Cons
No downsides per se, but things can certainly improve in efficiency in working with other related teams in the organization;
Pros
Smart co-workers and happy customers
Cons
Pace is very fast with lots of change - company is not for everybody.
Pros
Strong growth and fun culture.
Cons
Not much room for upward mobility
Advice to Senior Management
Develop talent don't just acquire it
Pros
-Good pay for the position.
-Clear career path from day one (maybe to a fault)
- Fun people to work with.
- Great product
Cons
-Will never be able to escape office politics, you will feel a pressure to conform to a certain mentality.
- Be prepared to not receive a lot of positive feedback
- Customers seem to be an afterthought.
- Very aggressive culture
- Company has grown too fast almost to the point where there is a certain arrogance about everyone in the organization.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to manage to your employees strengths. On that note, get to know your employees and their strengths and weaknesses. Not everyone excels using the exact same approaches so try and actually manage to make your employees successful.
Pros
Great product, great customer loyalty, smart people, good work/life
Cons
Lower income potential than originally thought.
Advice to Senior Management
Annual accelerators on quota.
