    I worked at Sam's Club

    Pros

    -Made many great friends
    -Free membership

    Cons

    -Extremely understaffed

    -Favoritism
-Too much work for one person to handle
    -Lazy management and associates
-Unfortunately the core values are nothing but lies
-Lack of respect for the individual

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get off your butt and work! Don't sit on your butt the whole day and sit in the managers office. Speak to your associates and ask what problem can be fixed; stand behind them when customers treat the associates horribly. Lastly, RESPECT!

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Easy work
    Blessed to be employed

    Cons

    Lack of management
No consequences for negative actions from most employees
Those who work hard and do grew work get "left behind" and given worst schedules; no recognition for anything.
VERY low pay scales for amount of work expected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with your team as a team player
    Lead the team
    Weed out the "bad seeds"
    Appreciate people who work well.
Try less waste of product(throwing/donating) and put that extra money towards higher pay rates!

I worked at Sam's Club full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I liked that the position allowed for independent working. I enjoyed being able to mix up whether doing inside marketing or outside cold calling. The special community events that were rewarding.

    Cons

There was not a lot of management support or direction given. The Clubs are so understaffed that they often pull the marketing team from their tasks to run registers or the membership desk which makes it impossible to meet your goals and quotas. The company boast of lead support but the computer generated lead systems are so antiquated that no one knew how to use them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Offer employee discounts.

    I worked at Sam's Club part-time

    Pros

    Meeting some nice people
Pay is alright, depending on the position and experience. You are worked past your limit for it though!

    Cons

Pushing employees to get pluses and credits, cutting hours both make customer service suffer so much and makes it stressful everyday for the employees who have to put up with it everyday, lines on registers are so outrageously long most of the time because of the club being constantly understaffed. Most associates work other departments work plus theirs to cover up for lack in staff.

Management in general is unprofessional and soulless, they look for someone to blame for their shortcomings and they're never questioned, only the little people get questioned and blamed. I have to say it's partially the corporate's fault for being disorganized and not paying attention to whom they put in charge of people's careers.

Not everyone is treated fairly here, whomever is willing to suck up to management and doesn't speak up is favored.

The main goal at Sam's Club is to get numbers, more money and higher numbers, they claim to be concerned with good customer service too but reality shows otherwise. Associates are milked for work and tolerance and once they fall down under stress and excessive work they get their throat cut and their meat sold.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should change your whole view for this company, focus on real good customer service and training your employees to do a good job at it and in their position and focus a little less on getting more money and higher digits.

Recognize what your employees do, have some respect for them, the little people who keep this place going.. without them your business is nothing. And pay them more.

Hire more people and stop cutting hours.

    Pros

To learn Sam Walton's principles of management. Learned many business tactics that helped with the success of my career. Rewarding!

    Cons

The challenges: getting all tasks completed with a tight staff. Good structure but need to have the players in place to realistic accomplish them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay close to what the clubs need so they can over achieve. Change is always good, look closer at what the key needs are for the stores to be able to accomplish.
