I enjoyed the flexibility of my job and the relationships built with employees over my 13 years there.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Houston, TX

I worked at Sam's Club full-time for more than 10 years

ProsBenefits were my main perk. I also enjoyed the diversity of the employees.

ConsThe one thing I got tired of was the constant push for Plus memberships or credit applications.

Advice to Senior ManagementAppreciate the regular memberships as much as the Plus. I feel the member is pushed too much to upgrade.

I don't feel a job security.

Photo Technician (Current Employee)
South Houston, TX

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time for more than 3 years

ProsI enjoy working with my team lead, and my coworkers. I enjoy the benefits that I have chosen to take advantage of. Stock options, health and life insurance...etc....

ConsI'm full time and I'm only getting 32 hours. I was getting those hours when I was part time. I had to fight to get full time. This doesn't sit well for me considering I have been there for a few years now, and I have never called out, I have never been late, I have come in when some one has called out. I have had slack days. You know those days when you have a hard time getting motivated, but my work ethic overrides those days....hands down.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy advise to management would be for some managers to take a crash course in leadership. Most of them lack this quality. Another bit advice try picking up work moral. Employees want to be heard and for management to empathize with them. We have some managers who lack empathy. I wonder how a couple of them ended up with that responsibility.

I have worked with great co-workers, but this company has no vision and can't seem to get to the next level

Overnight Manager (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time for more than 8 years

ProsPay is decent and better than Wal-Mart. Fellow associates are great to work with, down to earth.

ConsManagement is terrible. Accountability starts with the associates and then with management the majority of the times. High turn over rates with newer associates.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more engaged with your associates and work along side them if you want them to work for you.

Good for salesmen.

Sales Associate (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at Sam's Club part-time for less than a year

Pros- Friendly staff.
- Room to move up (sort of).
- Pay is great.
- Customers really make the experience (partially) enjoyable.

Cons- Managers have incredibly high expectations.
- At times, little thought is put into making schedules.
- CONSTANTLY PUSHING MEMBERSHIPS (you can't breathe without hearing someone gripe about memberships).

Advice to Senior ManagementNone really. I understand why they are the way they are and I don't blame them. This job just isn't for me, though I do think they should let all [potential] staff know that this is definitely more of a Sales Job than it is a cashier job.

Friendswood, TX

I have been working at Sam's Club part-time for less than a year

Proseasy to get hired, work with scheduling issues

Conspart time hours vary from 8 to 28 per week, no benefits until after a year, very little pay compared to the money each location makes, not what you know its who you know

Advice to Senior Managementpay more and the turnover rate wont be so high, give opportunities for advancement to all interested...look at all of the openings!
