I worked at Sam's Club full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Very team oriented! Employees welfare considered important. Safety is very important of employees and customers. Health oriented as we exercise in the mornings as an entire team doing light warm ups.

    Cons

Have to be thick skinned to handle all kind of customer complaints. There is a lot of standing but breaks are ok.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

One in particular remember where you started. All other managers were great and wanted to see you succeed.

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Sam's Club offers a variety of positions: cashier, customer service, accounting, photo specialist, optical and pharmacy technicians, mobile associate, merchandisers, stockers, jewelry, baking, deli, meat, cafe, receiving, and forklift drivers.

    Cons

The starting pay isn't very competitive. The business model is having trouble adjusting to current economic needs. There is overwhelming pressure to sell upgrades and credit to support the membership business model.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to basics! Make your prices competitive. Know what your members want to purchase and do your best to get it in!

I have been working at Sam's Club

    Pros

Easy to move up to management with dedication
Better wages than the mother company (Walmart)
    Friendly member focused environment

    Cons

Pay could be better, like the primary competitor. This would reduce the high turn over rate, money expended on background checks and drug testing. Also, it would contribute to happier employees, and better member service (which would increase sales). Positive domino effect :)

Overtime is very hard to get approved

Chance to earn a yearly bonus (Sam's share)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is pretty good and understanding. With determination, it is easy to move up to a leadership or management role. Benefits are average, they could definitely use improvement.
