I worked at Sam's Club full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Pay was very good,
    matching 401k was awesome
paid holiday vacation and personal time
able to purchase Walmart stock through payroll.

    Cons

Management, I know this is probably the one thing that is always put down first. This is so true for sams club management need to be a little more approachable, caring and not belittle associates in front of other associates.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All I am saying is put yourself or one of your children's shoes and think of how they or you would feel if a manager treat you like some of the managers do at sams club.. I happened to enjoy my time at sams club but I have seen a lot of associates not treated with the same respect as other associates.

I worked at Sam's Club full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

An associate can make a good career for themselves starting at the bottom and working their way up thru hard work and dedication.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't care to help the associates become successful enough. There is way to much brown nosing and politics involved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look into the issues and don't go by a set of impossible rules. There needs to be a sense of loyalty in every decission.

    I worked at Sam's Club

    Pros

Managers are professional and will treat you with respect.
Co-workers are usually tired but pleasant to work with.
Sam's club is always hiring, pretty easy to get a job.

    Cons

Pay is terrible, terrible benefits, work schedule is not consistent. If someone is late/sick/fired/quits you will have to fill in for them, which makes it very hard schedule things in advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have at least one set day off a week for employees that never changes.

Current Employee - Cashier in Fort Worth, TX

I have been working at Sam's Club

    Pros

    Above Average Pay
    Flexible Enough Hours
    Schedules Released Well In Advanced

    Cons

Hard to advance any to other department in the store, under staffed which results in management calling you on days off to come in and a very long work day because they end up asking you to stay, if you are a student half the time they ignore your availability sheet and class schedule and still schedule you whenever they want, terrible at letting you go on breaks and lunches, and tend to ask you to do tasks that are not in your job description (like you're a cashier and they ask you to go do carts). They will also never allow you to be full time and will severely cut hours such as working 32 hours one week to 15 hours the next week randomly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your management properly so they can handle simply task such as scheduling enough people to work a full day without gaps and to properly run the front end without your cashiers needing to do the job of 3 other positions in the store.
