I worked at Sam's Club full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great opportunity to give to the communities you live in. Enjoyed building the relationships with business members. Good opportunities to move within the company.

    Cons

Work/Life balance horrible in the field. Communication between corporate and the field needs to be worked on. Training plans need to be implemented.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put more foucs on executing the 3 basic beliefs. Seems the company is moving away from making them as important as they need to be.

I worked at Sam's Club for more than 5 years

    Pros

It's almost impossible to name a pro. I worked for Sams as a first job after high school when Sams was just getting started. Back then the company values included caring for all of the associates. 25 years later they have done everything possible to remove the human factor.

    Cons

Even though it doesn't fall by law as a category of discrimination Sams/Walmart discriminates against single mothers. If you are not able to commit to being available 24/7 u are not only not eligible for any promotion u are not even eligible for full time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My true advice to any managers is to find another job as quick as possible before you find yourself dead center of a lawsuit!

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

For the most part, management is respectful. Very fast paced and demanding if you're looking to stay busy. Bonuses depend of profit, shrink, etc for the year. I've been with the company 6 years and only bonused twice. The first time was $1,300, this past year was $700. Friendly co-workers. Team oriented.

    Cons

Bottom line is profit. Cashiers have it the worst. They are forced to ask every member if they want to upgrade or apply for credit, even if the member is a regular. The members get sick and tired of this. To management and corporate, you are only a statistic. It feels like if we want a bonus, they will overwork their current employees and not hire extra help. Years where we've had extra help and smoother days, there was no bonus. Not much of a choice there. Double work is a must to try and please corporate visits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Store Management does their best to treat their employees right. It's the corporate greed that trickles down to management to make it seem like its their fault. Management only does what they are told.

I have been working at Sam's Club part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The fellow co workers were very friendly and their was an overall positive work environment. A lot of training and movement opportunities.

    Cons

The pay isn't all that great for the amount of work that you will do. Be prepared to work hard and possibly be taken advantage of by the management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management at sam's club should learn to lead by example. It's simply good PR to help out the associates and find themselves in their department with their employees more often. Management isn't only about the store and the procedures and policies it is also about the people you are managing.

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Leadership is at the highest quality, ability to promote within; quickly, works with school schedules. Management is quick to acknowledge hard and good work. Overall an excellent place to work.

    Cons

The fact that salaries are non-negotiable is horrible. Middle management has very low wages (less than 25,000).

I worked at Sam's Club full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Assistant Manager position attainable within 3 years starting as an hourly with upside potential coming from mobility and loyalty in 10 to 12 years total time.

    Cons

Pendilumn sings wildly to favor work classes failing to meet society perceptions and or corporate quotas ooops I mean goals. You can go from hero to zero in 3.2 seconds and be on the outside, when they want you out your out. Do not see any individuals retiring at the management level for some reason....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grass roots given to clubs on supporting teams above club management by clubs.
