    Pros

    Great working with new technology

    Cons

Let go of contractors very frequently because of budget cuts or due to work slowing down.

    Advice to Management

Hire full time employees instead of contractors.

    Pros

Once Samsung overtook Nokia for #1 Globally and fully developed their line of Galaxy smart products (Galaxy S; Tab; Note) the new American CMO was allowed to spend serious marketing dollars on multiple media campaigns, in order to compete w/ Apple.

    Cons

Samsung's culture is forced upon American workers through South Korean dispatchers (closed fraternity, with a military management style feel). Samsung always works hard, however, Samsung often doesn't work smart.

    Advice to Management

Continue to hire very experienced American workers, but allow them to tell you what you need to know (without retaliation) vs. what you (Korea HQ) wants to hear.

    Pros

Hands off approach, bosses do not micro manage you. You are given a task and it's up to you to finish it.Office is also very nicely designed

    Cons

Hard to advance, general lack of procedures. They do not train you,you are kind of left on your own to figure out what you're doing, which isn't bad if you can learn fast by yourself.

    Pros

They are working on some really cutting edge technologies. The management is understanding and trying, but the work has to get done. Generally flexible in terms of daily schedule. You can work from home some days if needed.

    Cons

Samsung Telecom America is the offshore for Samsung Korea and they get treated like that. The work has to get done. You will face some unrealistic deadline. You may face some lack of information sharing situations.

    Advice to Management

They need to push back in terms of schedules and information shared.

    Pros

Hard working employees. Good exposure to new technologies. Challenging work.
STA offers great benefits and the compensation is good. End of year gifts are nice.

    Cons

Long hours. Too many biz trips to Korea. No autonomy from HQ.
Too many projects are focused on commercialization work.

    Advice to Management

Improve the cafeteria - the vegetarian food was terrible.
Focus more on long term planning. Improve the internal systems. End.

    Pros

    good benefits, decent cafeteria food

    Cons

this place is driven by politics, data doesn't drive decisions... it's flat, they outsource everything and don't promote from within. if you're female good lucking moving up here. this company will use you, so if you want to come here it's good to have samsung on your resume, that's about all you will get from here. overall this is the worst company i've ever worked for hands down.

    Advice to Management

get with 2009, offer flex hours, opp for advancement... you don't have to be chained to your desk to get work done. allow employees to do their job and make an impact. the politics are absurd and you will attract people because of the company name, but as of now, you'll never retain really good employees for more than a few years... this is springboard employer....
