I worked at Samsung Research America as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Really enjoyed the team I was working with, along with the work we were doing. We had a lot of freedom to conduct actual research, and were free to pursue things we found interesting.

    Cons

The location wasn't ideal, and Samsung hasn't invested in the shuttle services provided by Apple or Google. Also, working with samsung HQ can be a bit difficult.

I worked at Samsung Research America

    Pros

Exciting projects, lot of learning opportunities

    Cons

Hectic work schedule, no work life balance, poor management, long hours of work valued more than quality of work.

I worked at Samsung Research America full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits, good (decent) salaries

    Cons

Prepare to be 'owned' 24/7. I worked out of NYC and dealt with managers in Korea and San Francisco every day. Due to the time difference this meant it was common to work 12 -15 hours each day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Korea is the capital of South Korea, not the world!

I worked at Samsung Research America as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Great ideas and infrastructure, smart people, good salary and relocation packages
I didn't experience micromanagement by Korea HQ , thanks to my mentor who is great.
    HR was very helpful

    Cons

Too much internal dirty politics - Teams and people within the same lab (where I was interning)t just wanted to make each other look bad and suck up to the lab head. I faced hostility from a female lab member who probably couldn't fathom that an intern is smarter than her.
No one wants to do anything out of the ordinary - if you want to drive innovation, you have to think outside the box!!
No perks - no free food, no gym

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire good people and retain them - If there is a high attrition rate, surely you are doing something wrong that is driving away talented people.
Be nice to your employees - If you want to compete with the biggies (F, G, A) then listen to your employees , let them work in a comfortable and creative environment, don't strangle them, pamper them
