I worked at San Diego County Credit Union full-time

I have been working at San Diego County Credit Union part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I work at an awesome branch. Every branch could be different! I love our members -- not too many angry/unsatisfied members, all have good credit/income, very friendly people My co workers rock The company treats us very well, benefits for PT and FT, lots of freebies, discounts, company paid meals, swag, etc. Not high sales pressure, more like encouraging and looking for ways to help the member SO much room to promote

    Cons

Most credit unions underpay compared to big banks. But if you're just getting into banking, it's fine. There's a good balance. Not a lot of sales pressure is better in my opinion than making a couple more bucks an hour

    Advice to Management

    I <3 my managers

I have been working at San Diego County Credit Union full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It really is a great place to work. Good place to start for entry level as they have a thorough onboarding program along with ongoing training and development classes. Internal career paths are clear, available and supported for motivated employees. Lots of celebrations and events to keep people engaged, plenty of perks and benefits. Really fun people to work with. Competent management.

    Cons

It is a member/customer-focused atmosphere for sure, sales and service being a priority. Not for people who want to coast. The company is experiencing a high growth rate and sometimes long hours. Goal driven, there is a reason they are number one.

    Advice to Management

Successful people are promoted quickly, and more management training and development would be beneficial as people come up through the ranks.

    Pros

okay benefits package. decent hours. some room to advance.

    Cons

must pay out of pocket for medical even if you are full time. pay not competitive within the industry. more focused on telemarketing calls and sales then actual customer service.

    Advice to Management

go back to the credit union culture it had before. it's good to grow as a company and to be competitive but remember that you are a credit union not a commercial bank.

    Pros

You aren't labled and put in a box. This company is growing fast there are always opportunities to move departmens and grow. You work very hands on and the micro managing sometimes seen in financial institutions is very minimal.

    Cons

The incentive program is not great. They don't take into account the high income taxes that exist in California. The training center is great but it's in the middle of Mira Mesa. Which means at least an hour and a half of traffic each way.

    Advice to Management

Some of the management don't treat their employees the way they should. Maybe opt for more consistency among management systems.

I worked at San Diego County Credit Union full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone at the company lower than the man is great.

    Cons

Neanderthal approach to technology and pushing sales. Info Reps are jack of all trades and master of none. We are supposed to know everthing about the credit union.

    Advice to Management

Get individualized reps specializing in certain areas.
