    Pros

Very supportive of advancing education and professional development, a lot of opportunities to try out different roles in the university, a refreshing change after working in the corporate world for 15 years.

    Cons

Low pay, stifling bureaucracy, plenty of academic politics, major funding issues, some faculty were demanding and very difficult to support.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep San Jose State a university instead of molding it into a corporation. Education should not be so rationalized. Focus should be on learning, not the bottom line. This should be the mission of all the CSUs, not just SJSU

I worked at San Jose State part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good start for if you want to continue on to your terminal degree. You get to work with many different professors, which will give you the opportunity to find out what your emphasis is.

    Cons

The department I worked for was understaffed. I was the only graduate assistant so I had to juggle working with many different professors in the department.
