    Pros

Plenty of opportunity for self direction. The campus is nicely located in San Jose, and hours are very flexible and include summers off.

    Cons

Terrible pay, little recognition for achievement, especially with junior faculty. Promotion is archaic, and requires physical preparation of a thick dossier.

    Advice to Management

Support junior faculty, promote their acheivements, and cut the red tape. Too many forms to fill out, too many levels of review to get things done properly.

    Pros

On campus position, laid-back environment, looks great on a resume. Sometimes you have the opportunity to do homework during slow times.

    Cons

At times the tasks can get repetitive or boring. Compensation is very low - minimum wage. It is not a very interactive environment.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to motivate students to do more in their positions - not just social media students. Graphic design and administrative students as well.

    Pros

Gained experience in graphic design while having the flexibility to change my schedule when class projects were too hectic. Great community of faculty and staff members, as well as students.

    Cons

There honestly weren't many cons about working for San Jose State. The thing I wish I could change was the amount of hours I worked, but the budget didn't really accommodate.

    Pros

Offers good benefits and a significant discount for grad school.

    Cons

-Over worked/ under appreciated, -Majority of every department's work environment has low morale -Underpaid -Rarely have any opportunities for a promotion or salary raise. -Very demanding -No sense of career growth -A lot of departmental conflicts between different departments.

    Advice to Management

-Please pay/treat your employees better rather than taking a $100k raise for your self. -Have department managers lead by example to motivate employees. -Implement real training rather than online/video training quizzes for older employees to be up to date with current evolving technology. -Focus on educating students to become great ,respectful, and intellectual students. Rather than focusing on the general campus resume to sell admission numbers. The next generation of working adults brings me great concern.

Everyone is super friendly and nice and kind. Always have coffee.

    Cons

Used to be able to talk to my manager about problems, but now that new management comes along, it's hard to speak up when there's a problem....

I have been working at San Jose State part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The time could be very flexible. And the working environment here is very comfortable. I like the university culture here.

    Cons

The management is kind of messy. As an assistant, you may have students who come from different professors' classes, and they are in different progress.
