I have been working at San Jose State part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Wonderful in environment to work in with like minded people. I work for Associated students doing graphic design. There is great flexibility as it relates to scheduling and I am given the opportunity to be a self starter and work independently as well as collaborate with vendors and colleges. I am allowed to be as creative as I want. There is much respect for the creative process of the designers.

    Cons

Hours are capped due to budget and I only get paid once a month.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Acquire more Mac computers for design stations

I have been working at San Jose State full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Nice people, beautiful campus, great speaker & lecture series

    Cons

No pay raise in 6 years; some buildings in need of MAJOR update (no heat in the winter, no a/c in the summer); too many useless MPPs. Not enough emphasis on academics (i.e, a campus-wide video phone system? MOOC to replace "real" professors?)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please don't create any more useless MPP positions. Please give faculty & staff a raise.

I worked at San Jose State part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good start for if you want to continue on to your terminal degree. You get to work with many different professors, which will give you the opportunity to find out what your emphasis is.

    Cons

The department I worked for was understaffed. I was the only graduate assistant so I had to juggle working with many different professors in the department.
