    Pros

People usually work hard for the college. Good focus on students. Good benefits. Seems like they are bringing back the step increases with salary which will help with morale.

    Cons

Low pay for the region. Starting to get more raises. We'll see if it sticks. Not sure that the upper management communicates why they make the decisions that they do adequately.

    Advice to Management

Keep the step increases going. Explain the decisions you're making, especially if you're cutting positions.

    Pros

job security is basically the only reason. If you are looking for something long term with low pay then this is the spot. They never get rid of anyone that they need to

    Cons

    low pay
    no advancement
    extremely irrational management
    too many supervisors
no support when new ideas are brought to the table

    Advice to Management

Stick with your train of thought on one plan before randomly switching to another without expressing your ideas to you employees. Maintain relationships so that you seem approachable.

    Pros

Fantastic benefits and paid-time off, including 2-week Christmas break. Passionate employees with student-driven focus. Employees receive 4 credits a semester (free) for advancing education.

    Cons

Low pay, especially for starting employees. No incentive for professional staff to receive advanced degrees. Unfair internal hiring practices.

    Advice to Management

Provide incentive to professional staff for obtaining advanced degrees.

    Pros

There are some great Staff and Faculty working here trying to make the place the great College it once was

    Cons

Administration is very into micro management and plays favorites. Administration ignores the feedback and advice of its Deans, Faculty and Committees and makes decisions based upon their own personal preferences rather than what is best for the College

    Advice to Management

Stop Micromanaging, be a leader and listen to the smart people around you.

    Pros

Good benefits, nice environment. A good way to get experience when you have limited job history.

    Cons

Pay is not inline with other companies. Can be difficult to advance if you do not have an advanced education degree.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to experience vs education level!

I have been working at San Juan College

    Pros

Really pretty buildings and grounds. Great people to work with. Important mission in community. Diverse student body.

    Cons

Not an open environment. Processes are mysterious. Priorities in odd places. Lacks strong leadership in most areas. No school paper.

    Advice to Management

Walk around. Talk to people. Respect opinions other than your own. Notice things like morale (low) and take it seriously.
