    Great learning experience

I worked at San Ysidro Health Center part-time

    Pros

I got to work closely with many people at various levels in the organization, including the CEO! The work culture is pleasant and you can tell that most employees truly care about the people they serve.

    Cons

Things can get a little hectic within the company, but that is to be expected in any fast pace, service oriented workplace. It was also sometimes difficult to get ahold of security and the IT department, but that was partly because the department I worked in was not a priority.

A hot mess growing rapidly with poor direction

I worked at San Ysidro Health Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You get to work for an organization that helps those in need of health care but have no insurance coverage or have financial limitations. Can be an amazing place to work if they can clean up the leadership mess and the right employees.

    Cons

Organization wants to grow without adding staff to ensure a successful outcome. No care of one's personal life as work is always expected to come first. Employees crammed like sardines to save money or office space. Expenses are micro managed causing agonizing pain and delays for the smallest of purchases. Completely inept IT leadership pushing a broken healthcare system. VERY poor leadership and lack of long term planning. Poor staffing shortage causing employees to be disgruntled and on edge and key employees are falling like flies as they escape the nightmare.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Evaluate departmental leadership and listen to what their employees have to say about them. Unfortunately most would only say something on their way out, but take that opportunity to stop the bleeding and correct the problem.

I worked at San Ysidro Health Center full-time

    Pros

    Co-workers are nice.
Computers and up to date, but the software is not.

    Cons

Pay - Arbitrarily determined and insulting. Most employees start their career here, gain training, then leave for more pay.

Management – They execute directives that are the opposite of any logical business sense. They are incredibly inefficient due to the micromanaging autocrat executives. The smallest decisions must be reviewed and approved by the CEO. They regularly ridicule employees in front of others.

HR – Rude, clueless, and not customer-service oriented. They do not care about the employees.

Organization Structure – Overstaffed, archaic, and incredibly inefficient. A huge waste of taxpayers money.
