Pros
Good Pay
Great training program in California
you could ask for time off whenever you needed it
Good support
Cons
Boring work at times
No feedback on performance until the end of the internship
I worked alone which was ok but not ideal
Advice to Senior Management
I would have liked to have been able to talk with my superior more.
Make it happen for next year.
Pros
Interesting work, lots of opportunities to learn, bonuses are very good, benefits are good,
Cons
Tons of stress, long hours, paranoid management, most people can't speak or write english very well, odors of people, food and smoking can be overwhelming
Advice to Senior Management
Give us the info we need to do our jobs. Try to do something about the smoking. More flexibility with time off.
Pros
SanDisk has a very effective recruiting function, great products, and some very bright people. They also offered a competitive salary and incentive compensation.
Cons
Very good job recruiting me, but untruthful and deceptive; terrible follow through on promises; questionable integrity of some in senior management.
Advice to Senior Management
Reevaluate HR policies, control hiring to avoid unnecessary layoffs/terminations, "do less with less" directive from management is insincere and unrealistic.
Pros
The main reason to work at SanDisk is the excellent remuneration. Salaries are good, bonuses can be excellent. And pretty decent individuals in the teams.
Cons
SanDisk likes to think of itself as a big startup, and that's a problem - it's not a big startup. Individuals who do unscalable things (like VPs spending 16 hours a day digging into minute details that their reports' reports should be investigating) make this a difficult place to work. Also, the company's disregard for services is atrocious; groups like IT can make a positive business impact, but not if all the budget is cut.
Also, the predilection towards advancing employees from Israel at the expense of US employees is very disheartening.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a more mature company look at what you are doing. Understand that there is value in groups outside of engineering.
Pros
Everyone is really friendly. They do care about the employees and there is a gym.
Cons
It can get a bit boring. There is no excitement.
Advice to Senior Management
Its very good leadership. A lot of sandisk politics
Pros
Moderate intensity, family friendly., non-intrusive work environment
Cons
No coherence, uni-lateral decision making
Advice to Senior Management
Take more feedback from employees
Pros
The company is in an excellent situation in its market, being the market leader with a strong IP portfolio and supply situation. There is little chance of the company going under or being acquired in the near term, so its a stable place. Although they don't treat their employees very well in many ways, the pay and benefits are good and if times are good then there can be nice profit sharing (or there was, but it has not been given for several years). It would be a good place to start a career as there are many opportunities to learn and take ownership of projects you are interested in.
Cons
This is not a place to be for senior people who are looking to grow and develop their management skills, unless perhaps you speak Hebrew. The company has grown to a size where performance is no longer the metric by which promotions are made and opportunities are provided, it is all about kissing the right a**es and self promotion at the expense of your colleagues. This has led to alot of instability in the organization as very political people have risen rapidly to levels that they cannot manage and then are pushed out when they cannot perform. The executive management has also lost their vision for the company, so there is little new, exciting, innovative work being done there.
Advice to Senior Management
Its time for the executives to take responsibility for their failures and acknowledge their weaknesses. The M-Systems merger destroyed tremendous value and yet there was no changes based on that disaster at the executive level. There is no executive at SanDisk with any real Marketing expertise and it shows in the lack of a top level market strategy. One should be brought in, preferably with Retail knowledge to regain the great brand strength that SanDisk had.
Pros
good product, and technology.. world leader in flash technology, excellent employee benefits and salaries are at par with market, bonus and stocks benefit
Cons
full of politics, too much unneccsary meeting, people spend more time in playing their cards well than doing something good for the company.. only yes-men survive in this company n get promoted to higher levels.
Advice to Senior Management
please try to make this place little politics free..
Pros
Got to work in different areas of the company which I liked. Performed different financial tasks. Got to meet upper level management.
Cons
Some times felt like there was not enough parking because I would want to park close cause im lazy but it was so far!
Advice to Senior Management
Got to work in different areas of the company which I liked. Performed different financial tasks. Got to meet upper level management.
Pros
Good pay, good benefits, nice to have a cafeteria onsite. Stock is doing well.
Cons
Lots of politics and infighting. Management doesn't have their eye on what's going on internally with their employees. Grew too fast - now bloated with employees in jobs because of their political alliances internally. Very engineering focused - not marketing focused.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to what's happening at your own company, or bring in a management team with experience to help the company. It's sad how this once vibrant company has gone downhill. If new outside management came in it could breathe new life in the company.
