    Pros

Other employees tried hard to make it a decent place to work

    Cons

Upper management does not care about the employees. Endless meetings/conference calls with no agenda and no direction. Same issues come up time after time with no resolution. Binge hiring when business is good followed by layoffs when business drops off. Re-orgs at the drop of a hat with no reasoning behind them. Continuous additions to the layers of management without adding employees at the level they are needed to get the job done. Everyone in operations is way over-worked.

    Advice to Management

You are not competent to run a company. Please retire and give someone else a chance who actually cares about the employees.

    Pros

SanDisk is name brand company. We are developing products that everyone use.

    Cons

Extremely High Internal Politics. Extra long work hours, expect to work 12hrs-14hrs everyday throughout the year. Management is pushy. Before every project "they say" this is the most important in the history of the company. Communication is poor.

    Advice to Management

    None.

    Pros

Decent benfits and found some good folks with good ideas that could help the company move forward, away from this financial mess.

    Cons

The Senior managment direction seems to change without any clear understanding of where the company wants to be. I would not recommend any of my friends looking for work to join since eventually, the company will be sold,, to Samsung. Samsung is waiting until the stock drops to minor single digit.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company ASAP or scale down to ensure future survival.

    Pros

Benefits were decent and some of the workers that I met were pretty friendly. Good cafeteria and free breakfast on Friday.

    Cons

Downside is most or all the senior management staff. There is no clear direction of where the company is heading and not sure if they have the experience to do otherwise. I would not recommend this job to any of my friends since I want to keep them as friends. Times are tought with the economy but there are decent jobs out there but SanDisk is not one of them.

    Advice to Management

Retire and bring in the people that are capable to run the company in the right direction.

  6. SanDisk, a company that has not scaled well

    Pros

Good CEO who cares about the company

    Cons

Company has become very big and political. Too many VPs, Directors and Managers care more about building up their own organizations than about the company. Decisions about hiring and direction are made inexplicably. My own group, for instance, has seen 3-4 reorgs in the past 1.5 years.

    Advice to Management

Build a good system within SanDisk for producing leaders. Do not hire people in top positions from outside the company, since they are unknown and many times do not fit in. The number of newly hired executives who have not worked out has reached alarming proportions.

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, nice to have a cafeteria onsite. Stock is doing well.

    Cons

Lots of politics and infighting. Management doesn't have their eye on what's going on internally with their employees. Grew too fast - now bloated with employees in jobs because of their political alliances internally. Very engineering focused - not marketing focused.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what's happening at your own company, or bring in a management team with experience to help the company. It's sad how this once vibrant company has gone downhill. If new outside management came in it could breathe new life in the company.

    Pros

Its a job that pays the bills. Leave as soon as you can though

    Cons

Manipulative and deceptive management. No flow though to let you know what is going on if you are not a friend of the VP. Managers could care less about you or if you have a life. They expect you to work holidays, Thanksgiving and X-Mas to get work done. They work you 12-14 hours a day and expect perfection. G&A people are routinely given dimished stock, if at all, low wages. And they never thank you for your hard effort. Save yourself and work somewhere else.

    Advice to Management

Cut the politics and try treating your employees with respect instead of like dirt

    Pros

Generous bonus at times. A relatively diverse environment.

    Cons

It is a totally unfair environment. If you want a promotion, don't bother to work harder within SanDisk. However, do try to get a job offer from another company. Then you are almost guaranteed the promotion when you pretend to quit even if you are an under performer. Working harder and better only gives you disappointment or abuse.

    Advice to Management

    Be fair and be honest.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time

    Pros

Nothing that I can say here.

    Cons

Only 2 types of people do well in this division (Corporate Operations): 1) A friend / very close acquaintance of the top guy of this division. 2) Extremely politically savvy, invertebrate, and an immaculate boot licker. Otherwise, be ready to be handover your sanity + life + career to the whims and ridicule of some "sadistic" upper management, whose excels to "use you" as a mere strawman for every tasks, take all of your credits as their own ideas and blame you for every politics, issues and problems. May sound scary but true.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

nothing. Good pay maybe. thats it.

    Cons

no communication, no incentive. no smiles, work late, no work life balance. bonus only goes to the ones that are in like slim with management, or are Israeli. if not one of them, then kiss it bye.

    Advice to Management

Diversify. Hire local employees. stop bringing in employees from other countries. Mine your personnel from local areas. SEND YOUR MANAGERS TO MANAGEMENT TRAINING. IT IS IMPERATIVE. ESPECIALLY IN THE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT. SKILLS LACK, ESPECIALLY PERSON TO PERSON
