    I worked at SanDisk full-time

    Pros

Gym and basketball court on site.

    Cons

Friday is employee termination day and Monday is new employee orientation. Every one is concerned about their "job security" where they drag the projects for the sole reason of it. Projects get cancelled and teams are being wiped out, but because company's name is in the headlines the stock is not doing bad. During the past fiscal year, many (in 100s) have been laid off or have left the company due to this problem with the company. There is no concern for the employees and using their experience in the company. New employees with much less experience come aboard and it takes months to be trained, but company is saving because jobs are going to lower wage countries (India/China) where SanDisk has its offices.
Work life balance doesn't really have a meaning.
No sick days at all. Being sick means losing a day of vacation time off! very strange for a company in that size. It might be even illegal in California.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have weekly one on one with your team not only when you want to talk to them about projects. Be proactive in being engaged with your team not only with your favorite ones.

sky high turnover for a reason

I have been working at SanDisk as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

schedule flexibility, onsite gym, onsite cafeteria, ping pong, putting green, volleyball, basketball court, horse shoe pit,

    Cons

extremely high turnover, revolving door, poor leadership, lack of communication, lack of respect, mismanagement, improper raise and reviews, lots of bad attitudes generated by above mentions.

Income inequity! People literally living in fear of losing there jobs day to day... They have Reduction's In Workforce(RIF) staff during the major holidays, huge layoffs around xmas, turkey day and new years. Shameful tactics on this companies part. Had a rif literally the days after thanksgiving and days before xmas then again weeks after New Years.

The ethics at this company are out the window, every Monday is new hire day and every Friday is termination day, literally. People have been terminated mid project on several occasions only to have there jobs handed over to lower wage same skill set workers. This happens in ALL departments at this company. Misclassification of job promotions to save the company money.

People are so busy at SanDisk that there is no time for proper management like 1 on 1's with employees or are so busy they completely leave and forget projects all together. This place is the anthesis of a dog and pony show, its all about making headlines to drive the stock price up while mismanaging practically every situation internally.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is worth 14 billion dollars and is a top 500 fortune company. Stop paying managers sky high salary's and spread that money around to the employees who do the work so they can be happy and brought on permanently.

It's a global company but stop taking queue's from people on the other side of the world that have zero insight onto the day to day ops that happen at HQ. These actions are counter productive and harmful to everyone involved.

Offer stability, equal pay and pay attention to the details your employees are telling you. Turnover could be avoided if management has clear and solid plans for what they want to do. Stop sending people to the other side of the world for a meeting that can be discussed via skype. You are wasting time, money and promoting a bad work environment. This place never feels like a team environment in any way, shape or form. It is just a bad place to work at in general.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time

    Pros

Compensation was competitive. Volunteer activities is a huge bonus. Shutdown days is also a good time off during the holidays.

    Cons

Poor work life balance, telecommuting is discouraged. Employees are expected to work extremely hard, with limited recognition. Not a company that you can build a long term career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to make an effort to retain top talent.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I really tried hard to think of a positive here but I don't really have any to say. Horrible company and management. Stay away. Unless you are from Israel.

    Cons

No Work-Life Balance, Limited promotion opportunity (though possible)

Very odd relationship with former M Systems acquisition - as a result, almost all director and above positions have been replaced with Israelis

Communication with upper management is very tough

SanDisk senior management likes to micro-manage

Long hours, sometimes missing some processes to make the work smother

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop the bias. Also, please tune your HR department. I have referred my friend (Biggest mistake) and he had a really horrible experience.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Office located. Milpitas is close from my location and traffic isn't bad. Free charging for those who have an EV.
I cannot think of anything good apart from that. Probably location is the only reason I still work here. There are lots of places around to eat btw.

    Cons

Everything. IT department and more specifically the infrastructure team is a nightmare. Extra hours is very common and pay doesn't even remotely match with the amount of work we do. Communication with upper management is very tough. No scope for career growth at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please change and start treating employees as people and not machines. Your free charging stations for EV is the least thing we expect. This is the reason why most of my team now work on the other side of the road in either KLA tenor or in Cisco.

I worked at SanDisk full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

There are no good reasons to work there. The stock is doing fine, but the culture is atrocious, just a bunch of loudmouth yes men
    Mid level management was ok.

    Cons

    Too many to name
you're watched like a hawk, for no apparent reason either. Visible antagonism towards random employees.
Old school company with old school management methodologies.
Everyone was LOUD and in each others personal business.
    Everyone was in constant battle,
    Not enough processes set.
High level management was always suspicious of their employees.
Only your direct level peers offer any help or support.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There is some level of work-life balance as long as you are able to either say 'no' or independently establish a comp-time agreement that allows you some flexibility. They actively support volunteer activities, so that is a good point too.

    Cons

The culture of nepotism and male domination creates a difficult environment for any woman trying to advance a career here. Be ready to be called "feisty" if you try. What works better is to know someone, rather than spend time working your fingers to the bone only to have them tell you that you are too independent.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Ok, Pay, great work environment, good campus

    Cons

SanDisk IT is based on one person's view, who is an "AS" CIO Ravi Naik, he has his stinking Indian team, no one gets good hike, stocks or promotions. He robs other's money by allocating all the options to himself and his close friends. You have to suck up to him to get good rating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

High time to look in to IT Dept, the current CIO has build his empire and is very mean to other's who are not in his circle. There are so many hardworking employees who deserve much better reviews than the one's who are close to CIO.

    I worked at SanDisk full-time

    Pros

Coolness factor for working for a popular consumer electronics company.

    Cons

    1. Very political and autocratic.
    2. If you are "Friends of Manish Bhatia" you will prosper, get big bonus, get out of schedule promotions. Else, GOD help you.
    3. People who do good are the ones who are A+ in following orders, can heavily praise their bosses openly (think how would you do good in North Korea), and never show a glimmer of intelligence.
