I have been working at SanDisk full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Bright future and opportunities of SanDisk enterprise storage product (InfiniFlash, and ION)
    - Compensation is okay compared to other similar-class companies in the valley.
    - Work-Life balance is okay
    - Plenty of food choice around campus
    - S/W Developers are extremely easy to work with, JIRA response time is insanely fast.
    - H/W engineers are also easy to work with

    Cons

    - Depend on your group/division, manager at times tend to glorify his/her pass glory excessively.
    - Manager sometime pass along his/her pass company's confidential document(s) around via email. (With his/her decades of experiences and he/she doesn't know??? that pass along pass company's document with CONFIDENTIAL warning is not okay and even illegal!!)
    - No performance feedback from employee to higher-up.
    - NO sick days
    - Force to utilize one's PTO for company's end of year shutdown
    - To many project updates request from manager... sometime 3 to 4 times per week (each day).
    - Too obsessive about colorful PowerPoint slides.
    - Most corp officers are Indian... I guess it has something to do with CEO being an Indian?
    - Traffic around 5pm is insane
    - Extremely limited cube and lab spaces. Some even forced to share rather small cube space.
    - etc...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - During performance review, please provide safe way for employees to give feedback about their managers' performance.
    - Diversify SanDisk corporate officers rank

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance; great people; very diverse environment; strong company values that are genuine, not corporate mumbo jumbo; very ethical company; high confidence in executive staff; the bonus program is excellent (in some years I've gotten as much as 170% of my target bonus)

    Cons

Some dysfunction is inevitable in any company, as are politics, but I don't think SanDisk has more than its share of either; benefits are OK - the basics - but unimaginative; equity compensation has gotten a lot leaner

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better succession planning and developing people (especially women) from within.

    Pros

Management truly cares about the work being done, they challenge you to step your game up everyday! The people at SanDisk are wonderful, and help you get things done. We have a employee activities committee, and a strong volunteer program! It's nice to work for a company that pushes you to do meaningful work, and also cares about giving back...

    Cons

We need better coffee at the coffee bar.

    Pros

SanDisk has changed / grown a lot in the 16 months I've been here. It's a good feeling to work for a company with a focused vision for its future.

    Cons

Every decision is influenced by many many others. Some with no knowledge but equipped with an opinion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider knowledge, responsibility and authority. Those with these assets will get the job done, using the proper resources.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

San Disk is a great product based company with good office culture. Busy 24x7 with lots of work to do with 100% production support.

    Cons

Compensation is low as per the standard and cost of living in bay area. Except loaded with ton's of work, I don't see any personal growth for experienced engineers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engineers with greater than 15 years of experience are utilized like a junior developers instead of they being architects and leaders.

I have been working at SanDisk as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

schedule flexibility, onsite gym, onsite cafeteria, ping pong, putting green, volleyball, basketball court, horse shoe pit,

    Cons

extremely high turnover, revolving door, poor leadership, lack of communication, lack of respect, mismanagement, improper raise and reviews, lots of bad attitudes generated by above mentions.

Income inequity! People literally living in fear of losing there jobs day to day... They have Reduction's In Workforce(RIF) staff during the major holidays, huge layoffs around xmas, turkey day and new years. Shameful tactics on this companies part. Had a rif literally the days after thanksgiving and days before xmas then again weeks after New Years.

The ethics at this company are out the window, every Monday is new hire day and every Friday is termination day, literally. People have been terminated mid project on several occasions only to have there jobs handed over to lower wage same skill set workers. This happens in ALL departments at this company. Misclassification of job promotions to save the company money.

People are so busy at SanDisk that there is no time for proper management like 1 on 1's with employees or are so busy they completely leave and forget projects all together. This place is the anthesis of a dog and pony show, its all about making headlines to drive the stock price up while mismanaging practically every situation internally.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is worth 14 billion dollars and is a top 500 fortune company. Stop paying managers sky high salary's and spread that money around to the employees who do the work so they can be happy and brought on permanently.

It's a global company but stop taking queue's from people on the other side of the world that have zero insight onto the day to day ops that happen at HQ. These actions are counter productive and harmful to everyone involved.

Offer stability, equal pay and pay attention to the details your employees are telling you. Turnover could be avoided if management has clear and solid plans for what they want to do. Stop sending people to the other side of the world for a meeting that can be discussed via skype. You are wasting time, money and promoting a bad work environment. This place never feels like a team environment in any way, shape or form. It is just a bad place to work at in general.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

There are some really good people working here and great support from co-workers. Management has done a great job moving corporate goals to best match current industry demands. Industry leader

    Cons

Limited possibilities of advancement. Seem to bring in from outside prior to developing internally. Compensation seems inconsistent and preferential. Many good people leave due to better opportunities a lack of support from management. This causes lot of re-learning, rather than building on knowledge. Management is weak in providing quidance to employees for long term career growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care and be more consistent with your employees. Employees are left to their own accord for job advancement and often overlooked when opportunities arise. Practice what you preach.

    Pros

Good visibility in the market. Name recognition from mother-in-law to former co-workers. Good benefits.

    Cons

Okay benefits. Don't see the company doing more than being competitive with other like companies. Wish management/executives seemed more in touch with the realities of the masses everyday life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build up your employees. Every opportunity for growth should be explored (job related or not). A growing employee is a happy employee.
