I worked at Sandvik full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great team of coworkers, good 401k and benefits, payday was every wednesday.pay is decent, with everything over 8 hours considered overtime pay, holidays are paid triple time.

    Cons

Company does not see anyone over thirty being a part of the companys future, the older people are given the worst jobs and a hard time in hopes that they would quit. The hours are horrible, the overtime is constant.there is absolutely no time for a home/family life.

    Advice to Management

Stop discriminating, stagger the shifts, stop using so many temp workers, stop lying in your job advertisements.Give more days off so your workers can have a life and quality family time.

    Pros

Decent pay with good benefits. Sales force is outstanding and work hard to keep the company profitable.

    Cons

Depending on location, it can be rewarding or devastating. If you have worth, you are honored. If there comes a time you are not needed or liked, you will be treated accordingly.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect - ALWAYS. Bad news can be delivered with humanitarian quality. Just because a job is eliminated, it is not a reason to treat a person as though they have a dreaded disease

I have been working at Sandvik full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of growth in several product areas, allowing for opportunities for personal growth experience. Extensive use of LEAN process control and management.

    Cons

Financial compensation lags behind experience. Life/Work balance baseline skewed towards work.

    I worked at Sandvik full-time

    Pros

The VP was always getting involved in safety issues. He would get involved personally and talk with all people involved even if it was a minor incident. I found him to be sincere in making sure that the people he=ad the proper tools and received the right training to not just reduce but to eliminate accidents/

    Cons

The company is very cyclical based on mining needs so we worked all the time for years and then we would be lucky to keep people busy.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and try to figure out how to work through the rough times

I have been working at Sandvik full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Awesome work environment. Everyone got along well. They were very lenient in every aspect of the work day as long as you got the job done.

    Cons

Lack of communication and teamwork. The company was bought out and EVERYTHING went down hill from there. HR is a joke. Favoritism is prominent, if you aren't one of the favorites you wouldn't survive the place.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes. Employees get away with the most ridiculous things there.

I have been working at Sandvik full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work life balance is well above average. Sandvik is a great place to learn about manufacturing. They value their employees and promote from within.

    Cons

The office politics can be annoying. They are somewhat rigid in their structure. The salary was less than expected. They follow the mother plant's guidelines with little question.

    Pros

    Good pay, thats about it!

    Cons

Management, shift hours are constantly changing, they love to play the blame game, and often get the person to blame wrong

    Advice to Management

If you want your employees to be happy, listen to them, and dont treat them like 2 year olds.
