Enjoyed sowing information into the lives of older/adult students who wanted to better their lives for their future.

I worked at Sanford Brown College part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

As a minority male whose father died when I was 6 years old, I understand the plight of young people who make a commitment to prepare for a better life for themselves and their families than I was afforded as a child. I did not let the loss of my father curtail my dreams and today I have earned the rank of Colonel in the Air Force and have earned two Masters degrees.

    Cons

The only disappointment that I experienced at Sanford Brown is that due to things beyond my control, the college is scheduled to close a the end of 2014.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As I moved through my Air Force and Corporate careers, I experienced good and the not so good situations in both the military and the corporate cultures. In the military we were held to higher standards and had less flexibility to be able to deviate from standards than we had in corporate America.

I have been working at Sanford Brown College

    Pros

Every member of the team has input for improving the campus. It is clear that the New leadership team is giving staff the chance to make a difference, exercise their creativity, and be responsible for effecting it.

    Cons

There is lots of work to do. It is not the ideal place yet, but it is clear that it will get there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay in the same track, don't give up!

I have been working at Sanford Brown College

    Pros

My program and GenEd instructors were great before but you can really see now they've been giving the green light to make more of their own decisions, decisions that positively affect the whole college.

    Cons

The staff is still stretched pretty thin but a couple dozen more students would solve that quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The instructors you have left are still here due to their passion for education--not limited opportunities for them elsewhere. Retain them and hire back the best ones you had to let go.

I have been working at Sanford Brown College full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

My campus is getting much better thanks to the massive overhaul of leadership. Professors are finally given the academic freedom and responsibility to teach our students. We are valued as employees and our process improvements are heard. Great work life balance. Sometimes jeans on Fridays. Radio station on site. 1 Saturday per month for finals week. Good benefits. Culture is getting better everyday!

    Cons

We were headed so far down, so fast it's hard to believe our new direction is real and trust it won't suddenly change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep allowing freedoms in the classroom. It makes for a better environment all around. Continue with leadership changes elsewhere as needed. We never knew how much we needed change until it happened.
