    I worked at Sanofi-Aventis full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Salary, benefits and work/life balance

    Cons

Big company bureaucracy and like any large company with stockholders to answer to, will let layoff their employees to keep the stock price up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time (several years) to invest in research and development in order to bring long term profit and growth.

    I worked at Sanofi-Aventis full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Culture varied on region, overall, my experience was great. Good benefits, very supportive company. Had some amazing managers that helped me grow in my career.

    Cons

Layoffs (like any pharma company, right?) Heavy administrative burdens at times (but that also varied based on the manager)

    I worked at Sanofi-Aventis

    Pros

Compensations were good as long as you were on a team with people willing to pull their weight in the field.

    Cons

Layoffs left good salesmen without a job and not so good ones retaining their positions.

    I worked at Sanofi-Aventis full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Good benefits.
Internal self driven training available for development.
Career development if you have the stomach for office politics...unless you are a lab rat (technical skills are not as valued as management skills)

    Cons

    Poor leadership.
    Poor communication with employees.
    No loyalty to employees.
Employees were expected to "Get it done" without proper resources or support.
Expected to work weekends, overtime, and holidays while management has three day weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The small biotech I worked for was acquired by Sanofi. At first there was little change and then the large corporate attitude took over. Management meetings were always catered while lab employees are fighting over how much of the 2% salary increase we could manage. If management wants the respect of the employees then they need to be seen as the hardest workers not the best politicians.

Former Contractor - Anonymous Contractor in Bridgewater, NJ
Former Contractor - Anonymous Contractor in Bridgewater, NJ

I worked at Sanofi-Aventis as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

The people at Sanofi were so nice and helpful. I forgot what it was like to work for a company like that. It is what companies used to be like. Would have loved to have been hired by them.

    Cons

They don't like to hire their contractors. They would rather keep a contractor on the books for years rather than hire them. If you need them for years it is obvious their is a business need.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep in touch with your employees. Leadership tends to have a lacking in this field.
