    I worked at Sanofi-Aventis full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked for sanofi for 20+ years during many years of transitions, mergers and acquisitions. They always treated us well and provided numerous opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

After working there for 20+ years, I was laid off due to an economic downturn. I thought my 20+ years of loyal service would count for more but I understand the business decision that had to be made.

I have been working at Sanofi-Aventis full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Company offers excellent employee benefits

    Cons

Constantly reorganizing and restructuring leads to constant management changes.
French leadership and culture doesn't align well to US workforce.
Constantly outsourcing certain functions to low bidders and get poor service as a result.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train middle managers on project and people management skills.
Minimize organization restructuring to build some stability into teams and plans.

I have been working at Sanofi-Aventis full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Some of Benefits are still better than most-vacations, insurance
Small geography can lead to better work life balance

    Cons

No outlet for reps with horrible managers-no support from upper level if you speak up, clear favoritism on my team, rules arbitrarily enforced.
Trapped by the whims of the manager-if not important to him, forget it!
No true rewards for performing well.
Why does it take an act of Congress to get a step promotion around here?
    What about a salary survey?
    Morale is disgustingly low.
Management is out of touch with realities of the field.
Why are we going back to paper now?!?!?!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to a partnership not a dictatorship. You are managers, not bosses!
All of these new opportunities are for managers-you are recycling old blood. If you want to be revolutionary, be revolutionary, there are people still willing to try and you keep hiring the same old types.

I have been working at Sanofi-Aventis full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I have great work life balance because my territory is so small. I also have an amazing manager that makes my life good. Good managers filter out high level BS and let you do your job.

    Cons

There are too many people that over lap with me. We have numerous people that we share customers with which seems a bit of overkill and not necessary. It's also hard to have anything be your own because there are so many overlaps. I've heard we are on the bottom end for pay compared to other pharmaceutical companies but I'm happy with my pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel that the home office thinks we are a dumb and that they have it figured out from their cubicles. I talk directly to the providers everyday and no one ever asks what they say, what they need or want. They come up with things that they think are brilliant and they obviously haven't spent time in a providers office recently.
