I worked at Sanofi-Aventis full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good benefits and decent salaries. Many wonderfully talented people USED to work there.

    Cons

Too many to list. The company went downhill fast as soon as "the transformation" started.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management at the 1041 Bridgewater site was horrendous. You may want to look more closely at who you are giving power to.

I have been working at Sanofi-Aventis

    Pros

There was very clear performance feedback regularly and you always knew where you stood.
The company really tried to get each group to know each other and it was effective, many of my former co-workers and I are still in touch.
The benefits package was generous, good health insurance, 401K match and vacation time.

    Cons

There was no communication of company or group changes, I would hear of changes from outside my department before my management ever told me.
There was not much work-life balance, no work at home even on snow days.
There was a big disparity in work distribution. Those who could perform were given the work that the under-performers weren't doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The corporate policies are good but as the yearly survey showed people were not happy with their management. Sanofi's managers were below the standard and had no incentive for managing their employees well. This should be weighted more in the yearly reviews.

Upper management not really in touch with what the people in the field need on daily basis.

I have been working at Sanofi-Aventis

    Pros

I was only there for the summer, but it was a great work environment. I was treated very well. The project was simple, but I was given a lot of respect with my ideas.

    Cons

The one main thing that was not great was that this particular project did not allow for any room for advancement and was a strictly temporary position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even though my time there was brief, my supervisors were both kind and supportive, and the work that needed to get done was also always completed successfully.

    Pros

good benefits and vacation time off, generous with 401k and medical benefits, company care and other benefits in line with pharma industry

    Cons

management is not aware of the market place and products that sanofi-aventis is putting out in the market, very little support from upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

senior management is clueless to what is going on in the market both nationally and at the street level, the ship is sinking and management isn't even concerned

    I worked at Sanofi-Aventis

    Pros

Salary/benefits are competitive in the industry. Company provides a good tuition reimbursment program and time off benefits and flexible work schedule was a nice plus.

    Cons

Sanofi used to be a nice place to work. The company was never the highest paying pharma co., but focused on providing a strong benefits package and backed it up with a culture that was employee centric-people were treated like individuals, not interchangable parts. That has changed since 2009 and "Transformation" began. Senior leadership has no idea what direction they are going in. If they do, they are incapable or unwilling to provide that message to its employees. The company has dismantled many of the pros that encouraged people to stay despite the lower salaries. Company loyalty towards employees is not longer considered an important aspect of the culture, yet the company still wants unquestioned loyalty from its employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A fully vetted long term plan should be developed and communicated to employees. It appears that decisions are made to save money but not for the long term development of competitive advantage within the industry.

    I worked at Sanofi-Aventis

    Pros

Sanofi had incredible benefits and good training.

    Cons

The company morale has been terrible since 2006. Many reps are underutilized and feel non- productive since there are still so many reps in each area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is great they are doing voluntary severances now, as there are many disgruntled workers and they looking for a way out. Reps should feel more accountability in their territories--there are still way too many reps in each territory, even the diabetes division. Less reps would mean more productivity and more accountability.
