Pros
You can expect to be involved in all the aspects of the product/project you are working on. The staff does anything so you feel comfortable. You are able to meet with whoever you wish up to the vice chairman (if available) and your performance is all up to you.
Cons
Lack of background knowledge in the pharma or biotechnology industry might hold you back, though you get quite good support for that as well
Pros
The money is decent, and the time flexibility is also. The car doesn't hurt either as do the healthcare benefits.
Cons
Very few developmental opportunities or promotions are available. Company loyalty isn't a priority. Changing metric each quarter and innovation doesn't exists.
Pros
Company has good market reputation and positive impressions with existing customers. Products have high recognized quality and the organization operates in a sincere and ethical manner.
Cons
The rapid revenue declines in developed markets is not offset fast enough through new compound development and other growth opportunities. Until core reorganization moves are made to resize the P&L, it will be difficult to be optimisitic on near term performance.
Advice to Senior Management
Make the difficult decisions necessary to reposition the company for growth. It is always better to pursue deep change, than extended decline.
Pros
Benefit not bad, workload not havey
Cons
It is a dying monster having a dysfunctional kidney, which keeps lots of should not keep and pumps out lots that should keep. It also has an elusive mind, which believing itself can be cured with the injection of ‘Wisdom’.
Advice to Senior Management
wake up
Pros
good salary and benefits
there were strong district, regional and sales vice presidents that were looking for new ways to get the business
Cons
One of the biggest issues was at a national level - the senior leadership had a fragmented strategy - territories/products changed every 6 months- 1 year; relationships were lost with customers. Also,
company didn't get rid of low performers, all top performers were promoted or left organization
Advice to Senior Management
Take a stand and get rid of low performers or people who constantly go out on "stress leave". Also, pick a strategy and stick to it for more than just a few months
Pros
Great work/life balance
Very good benefits since it is a French company
Cons
It is amazing how the second largest pharma company in EU survives with the quality of senior leadership. Who would have thought that no prior pharmaceutical company experience is required to assume a VP-level position???????? It is unfortunate that this can be such a great company, but just way too much politics and poor decision-making by leadership from top to bottom.
Advice to Senior Management
They are beyond rescue... Not even sure what they do on a day-to-day basis...
Pros
Co workers on the same level, train new employees well.
Cons
Favortism, worked while renovating building with dust and bad air quality
Advice to Senior Management
No favortism, All employees should be treated equally
Pros
great relocation package and vacation policy
Cons
male dominated leadership with low female leaders
rates performance on a bell curve
salaries not industry standard
Advice to Senior Management
remember the sales professionals are actually people andneed to offer more management positions to women
Pros
Sanofi-Aventis had the best benefits. The time off after having a baby and also the amount of vacation time. Medical benefits were also top notch.
Cons
During the transformation S-A became a very stressful place to work. Job security is a large part of being satisfied at work and when in a constant state of fear that you may lose your job, tomorrow or next month it causes a lot of anxiety.
Advice to Senior Management
As I said, when I first began at sanofi it was a great place to work, but as the years went on it became very stressful. I recommend getting input from your employees and if they really cared, they would consistently stay on top of the feedback and make changes so that their employees were happy.
Pros
Great place to work, especially if you have a good manager.
Cons
Communication from the top down is consistently poor.
Advice to Senior Management
Communications need to trickle down via email. Rarely ever got an email addressing the field from a regional manager.
