New opportunities in R&D; old hierarchies being removed; chance to lead something innovative both internally and externally
Cons
Competencies of some departments are severely lacking; still big divide in communication, expectations and innovative spirit between US and European colleagues
Advice to Senior Management
Replace long term, old-school pharma managers with scientific and entrepenurial leaders
Pros
Great salary and benefits. It's a great position if your hiring manager is still with the company.
Cons
The new managers will treat you terribly if they didn't hire you. Terrible communication with coporatte.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more transparent.
Pros
The people in the trenches are hard working and bright. Independence of schedule is a plus for those who need some flexibility.
Cons
No more career path opportunities available. Micro managing for reports versus selling for bottom line results. Too much "just checking the box" activity going on. Most products are facing the patent cliff.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management is great at managing $$ and making strategic business moves, but the lack of trust from employees stems from the way they feel their colleagues and friends were dealt with during the many rounds of layoffs. Anyone that is left either has survivor's remorse or is waiting for the next bad news that could spell the end to their careers...knowing it could happen to any of them at any time! Show your people, current AND past, more respect and dignity! During reorganizations, there has been NO customer continuity nor logical consideration of people's relationships, historical geographies, or therapeutic expertise...too hap-hazard!! Use local intelligence from DM's and RD's to make those decisions and that would also show them that you respect their opinions and decisions as well. You have lost some incredible talent and run the risk of losing more; eventually to be left only with those who cannot afford to go anywhere else but have lost their passion...
Pros
- stable
- good products
- good size territories
Cons
- experience is under valued
- management is very Male oriented

Cons
Upper management has not a care for the people that pay their salaries-
Advice to Senior Management
A great company is only as good as the people who work there-stop laying off the people actually do the field work!
