    Pros

The hours were OK, and not very stressful environment.

    Cons

Lack of communication. Good old boys club amongst managers, vice presidents and directors. HR department is worthless, can't get payroll correct or insurance enrollment in a timely manner. One of the worst places I have ever worked for. Think long and hard before working for this company!

    Advice to Management

Stop being so pompous and acting like your are better than everyone else.

  3. Disappointing, I was there almost2 years, didn't miss a day in a year and couldn't get on 1st,but everyone else did.

    Pros

    The pay, and the benefits.

    Cons

Get looked over when you work hard.Day shift office workers have their favorites.

    Advice to Management

Instead of getting mad at people that work their butt off, actually pay attention to whats really going on. And help people that work everyday&over all the time to get on 1st shift.Especially if they're single parents.

    Pros

Company has a few programs with potential to lead to greatness, but unfortunately too few and too little support. The company has an extraordinary core of dedicated workers that are hungry to see improvement and a return to the days when working there felt like being in a family

    Cons

Management at Mount Vernon lacks the desire or ability to pursue problems to the root cause and tends to look for blame rather than solutions. This has created an atmosphere of fear and disengagement that remains unaddressed. Over one third of the hourly workforce has left the company in the last nine months.

    Advice to Management

The Mount Vernon plant and the company (if applicable) needs to abandon the "Command and Control" approach to management and seek a path toward world class standards on at least a couple of metrics. Achieving this and sustaining it will require a management approach characterized by Commitment to empowering employees.

    Pros

Very clean, comfortable temperature, good lighting, safety conscious, regular information updates, not over stressed, friendly without trying to create a "family culture" You get formal training on procedures and quality expectations within the first or second day. There are ways to be moved around and learn other segments of the entire plant, if you ask, or agree when they request you to fill in at another department.

    Cons

Would like more interest shown when suggestions to improve quality and procedures are offered. It is automotive sub-assembly work so temporary shut downs outside their control will happen.

    Advice to Management

Encourage team leaders and supervisors to bring them constructive suggestions from the employees to live up to the mantra of constant improvement and quality control.
