Library Assistant (Former Employee)
Santa Clara, CA

I worked at Santa Clara University part-time for more than a year

ProsFriendly Staff, Chill environment and work schedules are extremely flexible. It's cool that you can have some time to do your homework during the job.

ConsWorking in a school environment is great but you get babied a lot with a lot of room for error compared to the outside world. Work is sometimes boring during the slow hours in the library

Excellent Location, Well Organized

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Santa Clara University

ProsExcellent Location, Well Organized! People are nice and friendly. Has house subsidy program, which is very nice considering the super-expense housing in the Bay area.

ConsNo much to say. If we have to find some, then it lacks diversity. Many employees and students are from local and many students are from rich families.

Was an excellent part time job which provided me with pocket cash throughout my college career

Office Assistant (Former Employee)
Santa Clara, CA

I worked at Santa Clara University part-time for more than a year

ProsReally flexible hours.
Focus on productivity.
Understanding and accepting environment.
Positions available for international students.
Great working with fellow classmates.
Also, if you get a full time staff position, your offspring can attend the school for free.

ConsMost of the tasks were pretty menial. They are highly repetitious also. As can be expected with most on campus student jobs, there was little to no room for advancement.

Great place to work, if making your career here

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Santa Clara University part-time

ProsFlexible schedule, work hours. Jesuit university, so the school values the work-life balance immensely. The location is beautiful and the weather is great. Working at Santa Clara University is great if you are planning on making a career out of it. Also good benefits for retirement and health care.

ConsIn my position there is no room for a raise or promotion. It is only part-time, with the inability to make a decent living. Because of the great work-life balance in the work place, in general the salaries are slightly less than industry. So while you won't be working as hard, you also won't be making as much.

Santa Clara University

Public Sdafety (Former Employee)

I worked at Santa Clara University full-time for more than 3 years

ProsBeautiful campus, nice students, good food

ConsMiddle management is uneducated, get promotions by who they know, and who "votes" for them. Rules and regulations are unknown. They quote the mission but many don't know the three words of it and do not abide by it. Money is everything at the school. Money talks.

Advice to Senior ManagementThoroughly test for positions, don't hand out positions to avoid sex discrimination suits, look to see what managers do all day including surf the web.

I have been working at Santa Clara University part-time for more than 3 years

ProsVery interesting mix of people and everyone gets along well. Its a tight knit group and a great place to work.

ConsFrankly, none. Things run smoothly, the work is always taken care of it and most people seem happy.

Advice to Senior ManagementA coffee machine might be a nice addition for long shifts.
