I worked at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital

    Pros

the staff/ clinicians are amazing and the only reason the organization survives. The sisters's mission are truly believed by the staff and they practice it in everything they do.

    Cons

Administration use the sister's mission as propaganda. They could care less about the staff

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Team work was very prevalent once you proved your worth and that you could be trusted and accountable. Very busy and plenty of diversity in people and work. Most of the staff felt like good friends and family.

    Cons

Upper management and those who didn't work in the hospital or show up once in a while could be deceptive. They fought hard and dirty to keep the union out and targeted employees that were interested or just curious about what they could do ( this was about 7 years ago).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to talk to employees and ask them questions with respect for what they do and how hard most of them work in a sometimes very stressful environment (ED, ICU, Psych.). Follow up on ongoing issues and have compassion and sencerity instead of either ignoring or letting go of some great people.

I worked at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital full-time

    Pros

Great health benefits. Hospital uses electronic medical records.

    Cons

In my department, staff were overworked and treated poorly. Throughout the hospital, most staff seemed frantic and stressed. Patient care suffered. Interdepartmental communication and cooperation was not very good, and sometimes hostile. I was never afraid of hospitals until I worked here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support your staff. They deserve the tools, support, and fair pay needed to take care of themselves and provide excellent patient care. Foster interdepartmental communication and support. This is crucial for excellent patient care.
