I have been working at Santos

    Pros

Great work life balance, many health / volunteering / development opportunities for all employees. Structured training for graduates

    Cons

Recently restructured, information and knowledge management a little scattered. Management of change in personnel not always done too well. Lots of young talent in Adelaide balance by a lot of guys who have been around at Santos for ages.

Great technical Projects, but spends too much money and time to getting them to produce.

I have been working at Santos

    Pros

Career progression, training, getting to know policies/procedures etc that make a big company work (or not in some cases), variety of projects to work on.

    Cons

Slow, bureaucratic. Managers have only acquired their positions because all the other available talent has left, leaving corporate clones with poor technical understanding/people skills in important roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should focus on communicating clear Project targets and goals to teams (in a manner that doesn't waste time), and avoid the rush rush, all over the place firefighting approach that hamstrings poor companies.

    I worked at Santos

    Pros

The cbd office and surrounds are very modern and comfortable and even the site accommodation is not too bad considering it is in the middle of nowhere. The gyms both in the office and on sites are great.

    Cons

Seem to make large management changes and swictharoo every year for the sake of it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Why do you make large management changes and swictharoo every year for the sake of it? Change needs to happen but change for changes sake is not good.

I have been working at Santos

    Pros

    - excellent work life balance
    - interesting work
    - great people
    - good salary and lifestyle
    - lot of responsibility
    - very little politics within the firm

    Cons

    - a little bit stuck in its own ways
    - hard to introduce the most cutting edge technology
    - sometimes a "small town attitude" from being based in Adelaide
    - Adelaide is a great place to live but from a economic point of view, it is no Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - be more commercially orientated
    - continue to pursue to growth opportunities in Asia
