I have been working at Sapa Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay and benefits are above average in my opinion. Pace of actual work is tolerable. Fairly safe work environment. Digging deep for those. Although from what I hear all sapa plants are not the same.

    Cons

Hostility (not physical) in most every aspect and department witnessed first hand. Dog eat dog environment that is bolstered and encouraged from the top down. Put on your game face and pads before you go in every day kind of place. Also HR has earned a reputation for negligence to a degree that is almost criminal. For example to name a few, missing wage increases one week to the next, missing hours on check, when bid is placed by employee for available job opening employees regularly photograph the bid they put in because if they don't they have ended up in departments they did not bid for. No such thing as teamwork. My supervisor at least is not afraid to outright lie flat out if it will get you out of his office for another day. Currently actively pursuing other career opportunities. Having said all that they do pay well and benefits are above average. If culture changed it would probably be a great place to work.

I worked at Sapa Group full-time

    Pros

Some team players do exist. Focused on safety.

    Cons

The work force continues to change. High turnover rate. Little support from management. Constantly putting out fires. Management does not provide support to solve root problem. Excess overtime is expected. High paced environment constantly demanding unrealistic deadlines. Takes advantage of employees. Aging work force being replace with fresh personnel with little experience. Knowledge is not being transferred.

I have been working at Sapa Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Consistent paycheck, average benefits, 12 hour shifts good and bad, well established company. If they ever get it together they could be world class.

    Cons

Very poor managers. So much safety it's dangerous. Bosses say the word fired everyday. Low moral and poor ethics. Not trustworthy at all. After 10 years I have seen 1 person retire, a dozen die.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Replace all salary employees

I worked at Sapa Group as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Regular pay check and paid on time, no other pros I can think of!!

    Cons

If you are a temp you will be treated like dirt, like you are dog poo on the bottom of the permanent employee's shoe. You don't rate and you are treated like you are replaceable with little or no respect whatsoever. They will give you ALL THE GRUNT work no one else will do or is willing to do! And the management is terrible, the turn over is terrible. They are constantly letting people in upper management go and making other managers pick up the slack with no thought to their current work load or that they may be over worked and under paid. This ship is going down and they are treading water to keep it afloat!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your temps and EVERYONE else like they are equals and matter, you never know when you will find that gem and if you treat everyone like crap you will never know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

people are humans, and when you are trying to get in the door, mistakes will happen. If your attendance is good, then why not work with the employee in stead of firing him.
