Good first job out of college, can't make a career out of it...

    Recruiter (Former Employee)
    Washington, DC

ProsWas a large company with a lot of clients and personal relationships. Upper management was great! They seemed to care a lot about their workers.

ConsPay base is not even close to average. Commision is under par as well...the sky is NOT the limit. Direct management WAY to focused on numbers in which the company was out of touch with what was going on in the market. VMS is taking over and passing them by. Constantly worked longer hours(12+) and weekends to hit their goals. Direct management was unapproachable with problems and wasn't open to new ideas.

Advice to Senior Managementstart treating your employee like they are human. People need work life balance!! If people work overtime and put in extra time, they should be rewarded for it, not constantly put down. Work WITH your employees to develop new strategies for growth, instead of increasing production and longer hours. Work smarter instead or work longer! Try and create a positive atmosphere, but don;t be blind to what is happening in the Market and reality.

    Cheaters!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsSapphire Technologies Irvine pays on time.

ConsDon't be surprised if they offer you "teaser rate" just to lower it after a few months. They always call from blocked numbers, always have their voicemail full (no way to leave a message), most of the time ignore you. At times can be rude. And Sapphire Technologies representatives from Irvine, CA won't have the slightest problem with signing a contract with a very good rate, just to lower it after a few months because of "bad economy" or "client lowering rate for us too". And I mean 30% + cut. I know they do it on a regular basis, so at least I'm not special case. They just do it - that's their way of conducting business... Worst consulting experience EVER! Stay away from them!

    Sapphire: Another beltway bandit

    Senior Systems Engineer (Former Employee)

ProsIt was a job. I had very little interaction with the management. They are really just a body-shop for filling government contracts.

ConsThey are really just a body-shop for filling government contracts.

Advice to Senior ManagementI'm sure they have no need of my input. They weren't at all interested in it when I worked there.

There are many better staffing companies out there.

    Account Manager (Current Employee)

ProsBig Company. Stable. Young company to work for.

ConsSalary and commission is very poor compared to competitors.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere needs to be more incentives to make people work hard. No acknowledgement.

    Great place to grow

    Recruiting Manager (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsGreat pay and room for advancement. Management tries to promote from within. They try new ideas. The commission and benefits plans are fantastic. They have a leadership in training program that helps to groom leaders, unfortunately it hasn't been as succesful because they often overlook the day to day mentoring.

Conscompany got too big that they forgot about entrepreneurial approach they once had. Employees become more of a number and senior management was less approachable. The culture can become too enthusiastic about drinking and happy hours and not enough on other fun outings.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet back to roots of smaller and decentralized company, but keep the marketing and HR functioning as federal programs, they do a good job.

Fooled into promise of Full Time Employment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsWages were on par with other contract companies.
Managers never communicated or discussed how you were doing aas long as you showed up or work and put in your card for the week.

ConsInsurance is horrible - You pay out the nose.
Contract to Full Time never materialized.
Relocation expenses - Sapphire never repaid expenses
If you have problems with the Company - they with the company.
They force you to provide password information or your check is garnished.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Not bad for a consulting job. Benefits are marginal.

    Business Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsEqquitable salary, but management tends to be secretive.

ConsSometimes it seems they will hire anybody, so often mentoring is required that can interfere with job responsibilitiues.

Advice to Senior ManagementMaking training and continuing education available would be a big plus.

Good people, great management, on the Up - looooooots of calls

    Technical Recruiter (Current Employee)

ProsGood People, Great Management, on the up. Sapphire will soon be Randstad Technologies and be rolling out a lot more jobs. The DC office is great

ConsYou have to make so many calls it gets you. There is a different approach at sales every week. Desk work...

Advice to Senior ManagementGreat Management. I think it would be wise to only hire people that have been in recruiting and want to stay in it. The job isn't for everyone
