I have been working at Saputo full-time

    Pros

Family-like atmosphere. Compensation and Benefits are good. Focused on helping employees stay healthy

    Cons

Company is acquiring a lot of smaller companies very quickly. This is causing far too many staffing shake-ups.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on innovation rather than yield

I have been working at Saputo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Unionized above average wage job with incredible benefits. Four day work weeks consisting of 9.5 hrs +OT gives you a fair amount of rest time considering the amount of manual labour. When the time comes vacation is very fair. Stock contributions are also great.

    Cons

At times there can be a lot of shuffling from nights to days and vice versa. For the most part only a one week schedule is presented at a time which can make planning things very difficult. Adequate labour is needed to meet the demands of employees when it comes to time off. Leaves of absences have been denied (you're entitled to a month per year) because of this. Some jobs can be brutal on the body, back and wrists especially.

    Advice to Management

Do your best to give out at least a two weeks schedule. When I first walked in and only saw a week at a time my mind was blown. Formulate a way that the general relief and posted guys on pick lines aren't there every week 4 days in a row, whether that involves postings that have a 50/50 corrugate/dairy case switch or something of the sorts. The man power is there, the organizational plan just isn't. We have recently been trying to move around halfway through the shift. Some enforce this and others do not and ultimately some workers refuse to comply.

I have been working at Saputo full-time

    Pros

Lots of hours, kind managers and supervisors who are very helpful, exceptional benefits are available, pay is great, wonderful employees.

    Cons

Very hard work, long hours (normally 10-hr shifts), must be in good physical condition, inside the plant very warm in summer and very cold during winter.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you're doing.
