I worked at Sara Lee full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Direct line of coworkers were great and my management was good. Outside of that direct line the entire Sara Lee management staff were not capable of executing anything.

    Cons

For a company with so many strong brands to fail is an example of how we as employees get taken for a ride while the top of the company make off like bandits. We closed more plants, spun off more companies and consolidated for the sake of it instead of working on the product side. Brenda Barns took a multi year bonus in the same year she froze all employees salaries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice is to other companies - use Sara Lee as the case study of what not to do and do not repeat these crazy mistakes.

    Pros

Nice place to work in the neighborhood. They were not afraid to take an office clerk and cross train them to know all positions.

    Cons

Managers were awful. They felt that they knew everything going on, but they didn't care about anything and didn't want to be bothered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Sara Lee full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The pay is decent and the benefits are good.

    Cons

The people keep up a lot of mess, the supervisors don't care. the supervisors aren't interested in what you have to say. They tell you have to work over at the last minute.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get a better team in there you would have a better company. Train the supervisors how to talk and schedule people the correct way. Learn to have more compassion for their employees. Change some rules about OT and last minute call outs and the employee that does that job has to stay.
