I have been working at Sarah Cannon Research Institute full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great mission. Leaders have great hearts yet cannot let go of being a small company and trust others to get things done.

    Cons

Moving way too fast. Senior leaders don't listen to leaders who have operations experience about how to move the mission forward. They have all the answers and the rest of us are not valued at all.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to leaders/people on your team who know operations and how to get things done in the right way instead of winging it.

    Pros

The C-Suite finally took notice that we needed a change in management from Director on down to Manager level. I have seen positive changes in my department in the last 3 months and I believe we are finally on the right track.

    Cons

We are growing so quickly that it has been hard to keep up.

    Advice to Management

Continue to reevaluate your current management staff (VP to Director to Manager) to make sure they are compentent. I am happy with the recent changes in my department and know that other departments need the same changes in leadership.

    Pros

Healthcare Benefits are really good, only reason I stayed & reason most single mothers are trapped there

    Cons

Terrible Manager that would randomly lie about me & others knew she was the guilty. Then HR did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING when I reported it, plus bullying, never being promoted when I was more qualified (experienced & education) than any other employees, lowest pay, MOST WORK, discrimination for being "Heterosexual Caucasian", then paid big money to NOT speak about the illegal treatment of me by signing contract. But I no longer care. The average stay is 5-6 months then people bolt to another company.

    Pros

Dedicated colleagues that have the desire to ensure oncology patients receive the best treatment options.

    Cons

Growing at such a fast pace that it's difficult to keep up with all the changes required to grow at such a pace.

    Advice to Management

Ensure the leadership continues to help employees develop and mature with the growth of the company.

    Pros

Sarah Cannon Research Institute is a fast growing company and they are doing great things for people with cancer. I applaud their mission.

    Cons

Favoritism; bias; incompetence; lack of communication; unorganized: more work than people; turnover. They don't show that they care about their employees - not as a whole, but within departments. Needs to keep up with their rapid growth better.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at what's going on in individual departments. Need management within departments that know what their doing; understands what their employees do; and cares about their people.

The people are great and there's always opportunity to grow. There's great work life balance.

    Cons

Some departments aren't as strong as other departments and it really brings teams down.

    Be more open and transparent.
