    Pros

The company is a good employer. The store was very busy but the time went very fast. There were many advancement.

    Cons

There were not too many cons. The hours were long when slow. The customers are sometimes very demanding and with attitude.

    Pros

You can work as many hours and you want. Holiday Discounts, 10% off store label items 2 weeks before 2 major holidays.

    Cons

Company does not have employees back with mad customers, equipment is not safely kept up, or cleaned. Lazy Union. Overworked coworkers and Supervisors. Also there is little-to-no Chance of moving up in this company.

    Advice to Management

Hire more Employees, MAINTAIN EQUIPMENT (ie, Cutters, floors, carts, check stands) to PREVENT INJURY. Get a union that >actually cares< for its workers, or drop the union (you'd save Everyone money).

    Pros

Union allows for constant progression within the company. Union benefits also offer medical, dental, etc. to part-time employees. We play an essential role in our community.

    Cons

In-house promotions based on seniority, not work ethic. When I had first started working for Save Mart, there was an AGM who was extremely lazy! I could have done her job better than she did (Granted she was ultimately fired, but that would have never been an issue if promotions were performance based.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees the opportunity to reveal their work ethic while simultaneously showcasing their capabilities. I would never suggest abandon all structure, but when there is too much structure, there is no growth. Also when the day comes where their structure crumbles, chaos erupts; Solely due to a lack of education, critical thinking, and opportunity.
