    Don't Work Here

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Saint Louis, MO

ProsGood compensation and some people are knowledgeable in their professions

ConsPoor management. All yes-men at the top. This company is going nowhere. They're so disorganized that they don't know what they're doing. There's so much in-fighting between groups that nothing gets accomplished.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire everyone at the director and higher levels, and let CenturyLink take over.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great Environment, Great People

    Hosting (Current Employee)
    Town and Country, MO

ProsThe atmosphere of the business is very friendly and comfortable. It is a complex business model, so it is always a challenge to keep making yourself better.

ConsThere are a lot of employees, so it is easy to get caught up in the mix and get lost in all the commotion. If you are not willing to learn, the pace of this business will pass you up.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake more of a connection with your subordinates and make them feel like they are a useful part of the team.

    Sales

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe compensation plan is very competitive for sales teams. Their product portfolio is robust and they provide flexible work environment.

ConsThe support structure was horrible for managed services customer and the deployment teams are overwhelmed and are not staffed adequately.

    Great just disorganized

    Drupal Consultant (Former Employee)
    Town and Country, MO

ProsGreat Place to be great people.

ConsAt times very disorganized with changing goals with little idea of dev time and a terrible code review process (timely good code was enforced but a very time inefficient way of doing it)

Advice to Senior ManagementClean up the processes a little more interaction between clients and developers might help

ProsFriendly management. Helpful peers. Generous benefits.

ConsPay raise cap. Quick growth that stunts quickly. Limited staffing. Complications brought by Century Link merger.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork closer with Century Link to bring back old Savvis culture and benefits for a hosted environment.

We only hire the MOST SENIOR Java Developers

    Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee)
    Saint Louis, MO

    ProsGood pay. Reasonable work-life balance.

    ConsCompletely unchallenging work. Bad management.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend a little time to investigate who is really running the IT teams at savvisdirect and ask yourself why. Then fire that person and all of his friends. They are doing a terrible job and wasting a LOT of your money. I'll give you a hint. It isn't anyone with a manager's title.

2nd comments of Reviewer below"isorganized, out of touch Mgmt. who are too lazy or clueless to fix long standing...."

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe are bright gems...however hard to find..it's like calling support for any company and you get crap..so when you find the one who really helps you wish you could get them everytime...same here..

ConsVP/Senior Directors/Directors as a majority have not a clue on their business....most were promoted as part of the good ole boys network and are mostly un qualified for what they do..Ditto on all what anonymous said below.

Jim Ousley was an excellent leader so it was sad to hear him go. Savvis is trying to get execs with real experience and expertize onboarded, but they leave out of frustration..the network frustrates them by blocking them at every turn when they try to make improvements or institute best practices.

ProsMotivated management who wants to make a difference

    ConsMore words than real results

Advice to Senior ManagementBreak silos and re-dress organization in cross functional disciplines. Spread and allow expertise to flow across business lines to add value to engagements elsewhere.

Inept leaders, this company will fall in on itself soon

    Director (Current Employee)
    Saint Louis, MO

ProsLot's of interesting work to do, some very dedicated and hardworking people.

ConsAtmosphere of intimidation and much in-fighting among leaders. Leaders not credible, and lack experience to understand the costs of what they want. VPs promote "yes-men", engineers get burned out. All the "leadership and development" and "better process" gets preached to the choir, and few are willing to tell the emperors they have no clothes.

Advice to Senior ManagementResign and let CTL find real leaders to replace you. 95% are a fraud.
