    Pros

Ability to voice an opinion and make changes
You can work on many different technologies depending on department
Ability to move up or around to other departments
    Casual environment

    Cons

Hard limits from parent company on internal move raises
No official work from home policy
Sales tends to sell packages without the proper support

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Savvis full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance, Mid-to-Senior level managers that listen, great collaboration between co-workers within business units. Cxx level management is not tolerating poor performance and has been putting poor performing players out to the pasture which has been long overdue.

    Cons

CTL gave us all the extra-costs of being CTL employess (taxed benefits, higher health ins premiums, less PTO) while deferring any benefits that might offset the higher costs. A lot of wasted money spent on projects destined for failure. Location is key to finding the good places to be. Savvis' business units try to work autonomously and their competing goals and legacy processes cause friction between them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We're way to eager to hold on to old technology that has gone past its expiration date. Additionally we're throwing too much money out the door to reinvent some tools just to turn around and buy other companies that already figured it out. I do see a lot of hope with our current direction

    Pros

Many of the Agile Team Members are very highly qualified. They are willing to help you understand many of the development elements in the upcoming Sprints.

    Cons

Sometimes management needs to allow the workers more chances to recommend process improvements. It is sometimes difficult to figure out who to talk with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with the teams - ask the members for more ideas. Track all suggestions and provide definitive answers (Yes, No, Maybe).

I worked at Savvis full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

most people in the office are nice.
    Good business strategy.

    Cons

lack of leadership and accountability kill this company slowly. High pressure environment with no clear direction creates frustration. Most of the management team are more concern about keep their jobs than about improve the business. This push the best people out and eventually the company left with low performers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start from the top. replace managers with leaders.

I worked at Savvis full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They have a nice suite of Cloud offerings, and a killer list of marquee customers

    Cons

Internal processes are probably 10-15 years behind the curve. Operations is a train wreck. Don't hold your breathe if you actually have a customer that needs a complex environment on line in less than 4-6 months

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People outside of Missouri actually can have valuable input. You should listen to them occasionally. The MO good ole boy network is not the ultimate font of knowledge..

    Pros

Pay is good. Company does some things very well. Overall one of the better employers I have worked for.

    Cons

Career advancement is almost non-existent unless you want to move to St. Louis. Tends to have great visions, but is unwilling to invest the resources necessary to achieve them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a lot of ignored talent in the company. Learn to use it!
