    Schafer Corp - Talented engineers

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Albuquerque, NM

ProsAlbuquerque office staff are great! Easy to work with, supportive, team players.

ConsA lot of churn and changes in corporate management. Not clear if that is going to play out well or not.

    Highly DO NOT recommend

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Washington, DC

    ProsCompany social outings. Holiday party.

ConsManagement. Turnover rate. I have seen several exceptional employees be fired from Schafer, while there are "managers" with absolutely no training, making six figures, not showing up to work, teleworking when not allowed, not communicating and doing a poor job as a manager getting away with it, because their bosses choose to not listen to the employees opinions.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need to train your managers before you put them in this role. Higher someone with experience, not someone who is just willing to do the job. Very few opportunites to grow. I spoke to my PM's boss informing him of everything going on and he did NOTHING to fix the situation.

My experience with Schafer Corp has not been the best nor the worst.

Technical/Program Analyst (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsSchafer is growing a lot of Homeland Security Business

ConsSchafer benefits package is mediocre compared to the industry. Specifically, little to no training budget for certifications or other training.

    Lots of strategy

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSolid support staff and very professional employee base. Good pay easy access to top management.

ConsVery outdated technology and excessive turnover of parent company management. Private equity owners are aggressive

Advice to Senior ManagementStick around and try to build the team you have hired. Turnover is killing operating efficiency and creates uncertainty among employees.

Unstable and a little nerve racking in current environment.

Senior Engineer (Former Employee) Albuquerque, NM

ProsGood pay and interesting work when working at Kirtland Air Force Base. Customers can be a bit hard to please coupled with what I call "contractor-itus. Also, there is friction between competing contractors on base.

ConsYou just don't know where your next contract is going to come from and things can get cancelled in a hurry. I was forced to work half time for 6 months (I still had benefits, however)before being laid off.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat you people with a little more respect.

    Unstable place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood pay, smart people. The environment is as good as one might expect.

ConsMy manager, while technically competent and motivated was sorely lacking in people skills. Moody as well.

Also, government agencies are some of the worst, most bureaucratic clients there are.

Advice to Senior ManagementWell done in a tough industry.
