Great in the beginning but less than stellar management made the environment unpalatable

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) New York, NY

Prosthe people and the culture were awesome

Consthe management style made working there over time less than pleasant.
It became a revolving door of management folks in and out the door, with no obvious opportunities for advancement for those not in upper management.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Schematic was a great place to work

Desktop Support Specialist (Former Employee) Los Angeles, CA

Proscan hang out with coworkers out of the office, generally friendly coworkers, "Beer Fridays", company parties! collaborative environment (some), inter-office synergy

Constoo many/frequent ownership and management group changes, hopeful strategies and partnerships that went sour or didn't fall through, micro-managers and bad attitudes (direct supervisor was a control freak, VP was very cool), and like most companies, miscommunication, and sometimes, managers/leaders were not aware that the environment was not conducive to problem solving, and GTD. Both leads and associates stopped caring after a while.

Advice to Senior Managementcompany was gulped down by bigger entity - while the memories were great, and a great starting point for a career, the end result was inevitable. RIP Schematic

Great potential, company dissolved in a year

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFantastic talent, the best across all departments that I have ever worked at within an agency.

ConsSeemed to have bad client management from a company-wide financial perspective.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Art Director (Former Employee) Austin, TX

Prosthe name of the company. some of the projects they kicked out were cool. the people picked up to work the show were a great bunch.

Consthe dell business was very poorly handled. it didn't have to go down like that. so many old-school mistakes made, preventable mistakes.

    omg wtf

Software Architect (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsWPP benefits are excellent. Hard pressed to find better corporate benefits elsewhere. Remember, this is due to WPP and not Schematic. You can get these benefits at ANY WPP company.

ConsConstantly hires the worst of the worst when it comes to executives and senior management. All those who have held the position of general manager/managing director in New York in recent years have just flooded to the New York office with their cronies.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't be afraid to hire people that are smarter than you. Don't fill critical positions with people who have bad reputations from other agencies.

    Not a great company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsA good balance between work and lifestyle.

ConsThe company was disorganized and dishonest with clients about what they were able to do in a given amount of time. The burden to convey this to the client was often dumped onto the designers.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement has changed significantly since I left the company

Since the acquisition by WPP the company has struggled to find its place.

Company In Crisis (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsThe new corporate overlords should provide leadership and stability but it remains to be scene if that will happen. The company has amazing clients and a long track record.

ConsBusiness has been so bad for so long that there have been many rounds of layoffs. This is reeked havoc on morale and the ability of the company to be competitive.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on stabilizing relationships with important clients and on adding new key accounts that can support the growth of the company.
