Pros
The new corporate overlords should provide leadership and stability but it remains to be scene if that will happen. The company has amazing clients and a long track record.
Cons
Business has been so bad for so long that there have been many rounds of layoffs. This is reeked havoc on morale and the ability of the company to be competitive.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on stabilizing relationships with important clients and on adding new key accounts that can support the growth of the company.
Pros
amazing people and talent. Most will end up being friends outside the work place
Cons
hmm, horrible clients, bad management, and the new flux of higher ups who all they do is talk.I have no idea what the ECD at the NYC does, altho he puts up a very good front with clients, but then it makes it even harder and more confusing for the rest of the team working on the project.
No transparency in this company at all. no direction as of now. 2 offices barely surviving. horrible and depressing morale, and management doesn't seem to care.
Advice to Senior Management
More transparency please. We know times are hard and we will hold on and ride out the lows, but if you treat employees like disposable machines, lie when asked for truth. that's not cool. Makes people lose whatever little faith they have left. You know you're doing something wrong with more than 75% of your employees are job searching.
Pros
the name of the company. some of the projects they kicked out were cool. the people picked up to work the show were a great bunch.
Cons
the dell business was very poorly handled. it didn't have to go down like that. so many old-school mistakes made, preventable mistakes.
Pros
Schematic hires some of the most interesting and talented people I have ever encountered. Also there are some insanely awesome projects to work on.
Cons
Management is a wreck changing direction every few months. It often feels more like working for a manipulative and dysfunctional family more than a place you would enjoy going to.
Advice to Senior Management
Instead of changing course every 3 months and pretending you know what you are doing, try employing some common sense and growing the company back into a place worthy of its employees.
Pros
Work on high quality projects
Cons
Very political environment that serves as a host for cliques and self preservationist attitude.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to strip away the cliques and politics
Pros
WPP benefits are excellent. Hard pressed to find better corporate benefits elsewhere. Remember, this is due to WPP and not Schematic. You can get these benefits at ANY WPP company.
Cons
Constantly hires the worst of the worst when it comes to executives and senior management. All those who have held the position of general manager/managing director in New York in recent years have just flooded to the New York office with their cronies.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't be afraid to hire people that are smarter than you. Don't fill critical positions with people who have bad reputations from other agencies.
Pros
great people and what's left of the culture, good client projects, and career growth.
Cons
zero executive management. it's like they don't even work here anymore.
Advice to Senior Management
if you don't want to work here anymore, hire someone else who does so that they can try to bring some leadership to the company.
Pros
- smart people
- great clients
- great work to be done
- people who work here are friends
Cons
- bad communication between offices
- don't always seem to know where they are heading
- some great leadership, some terrible
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the people. It's the only way you are going to get back to where you need to be.
Pros
cool ux projects that are rewarding
Cons
no raises for a long time
Advice to Senior Management
more clients
Pros
They do interesting digital projects for a variety of platforms - mobile, web, touch, online advertising. The hours were reasonable (40 hrs per week) and the people are friendly.
Cons
It's probably the economy, but promotions, raises, or room for growth was zero. After working there over 20 months I never saw a raise despite a positive feedback from peers and supervisors during my performance review.
Advice to Senior Management
Award employees with bonuses and raises based on their merit and performance, instead of companywide increases on the basis of equality. I personally am very driven at work, but if I'm not rewarded appropriately for my efforts, I'm less inclined to work hard the next time.
