Pros
Fairly good benefit package and good PTO as well flexible working hours. Highly diverse company.
Cons
The senior management is very incompetent and unfair in decisions related to career advancement.
There was a lot of favouritism and disrespect of staf of different cultural background.
Advice to Senior Management
Take to time to appreciate the work of junior staff. More competent staff should be promoted to positions of increasing responsibility.
Pros
Close nit workforce. we worked as equal stakeholders.
Cons
Lack of communication between management and their departments. Resulting in a game of chinese whispers, where the end product was misinformation.
Advice to Senior Management
A lot easier to bring about change and agreement by communicating openly and honestly.
Pros
Some of the best reasons to work at Schering were the good people. Every department was filled with them. It was a big company with a small company feel.
Cons
Some of the downsides of working at Schering Plough were the lack of communication in some departments. There are things that I found out as an employee of the company from an outside source.
Advice to Senior Management
You had a company that was on the verge of non-existance and built it into a top notch company, and then made it into non-existance anyway...it was good while it lasted.
Pros
Indepence, good pay, co workers, benefits.
Cons
Biased perfomance measures, unrealistic goals, self serving top management, environment of fear.
Advice to Senior Management
Try honesty and integrity for a change. Put client needs and goals before company stock price. Say what you mean and mean what you say.
Pros
Diversity, interesting people, christmas shut down
Cons
being attractive for acquisition, consent decree
Advice to Senior Management
My advice would not be valid as managment has already sold the company and is no longer part of the discussion
Pros
High caliber of business acumen among reps
Great products to sell
Industry recognition as leader
Was financially sound while
Upheld high degree of integrity
Cons
When things went south with a few of SP's products, communication was not forthcoming
Kept on putting off the lay offs - demotivating
overall - it was a great company until about 2008
Advice to Senior Management
Be transparent with employees
Be realistic in expectations
Uphold the manager/rep relationship as a professional one.
(they did all of this while I was there - just saying - keep at it!)
Pros
Location across the bridge from Manhattan. The pay is very good however. The company was recently purchased by Merck. It maybe a risky time.
Cons
Very expensive housing, I found my 2-br apartment for $2000/month. The company was recently purchased by Merck. It maybe a risky time.
Advice to Senior Management
this is not my area of expertise. I am not sure. The company was recently purchased by Merck. It maybe a risky time.
Pros
Generally good work life balance - like any job this can very depending on the manager.
Cons
Compensation plan attempts to reward achievers, but many times did not. Sales teams compared to others with different product lineups.
Advice to Senior Management
You run a great company, just be transparent with your people.
Pros
Pay is as good or better than average. The organization is highly structured, which has both advantages and disadvantages. If you want a defined career path, it is in place. You might be arbitrarily reorganized or laid off before you get there, but the processes are in place.
Cons
Incompetent management and excessive bureaucracy. If you excel at checking boxes and are lousy at sales, this is your place.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward initiative over compliance.
Pros
Overall the company was a nice place to work but the department I worked for had management problems.
Cons
Depends on the department, no room for growth and did not show appreciation for work well done.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciation is often more highly rated than monetary advancement.
