Keeu up the good job
Pros
Good team; flexible hours, good benefits
Cons
Managers have no accountability which leads to bias in treatment of employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employees - don't listen to only your favourite team members.
Pros
Scientists were in charge.
Great work/life balance.
Highly Ethical environment.
Very good Scieince performed everyday.
Cons
Salary is below average.
Promotions are few and far between.
Merck is screwing everything up. they have very little regard for scientists or the scientific process. Merck uses antiquated techniques and has no problem throwing money out the window for shiny new toys.
Advice to Senior Management
It doesn't matter. Merck has taken over like a virus.
Pros
Fairly good benefit package and good PTO as well flexible working hours. Highly diverse company.
Cons
The senior management is very incompetent and unfair in decisions related to career advancement.
There was a lot of favouritism and disrespect of staf of different cultural background.
Advice to Senior Management
Take to time to appreciate the work of junior staff. More competent staff should be promoted to positions of increasing responsibility.
Pros
Location across the bridge from Manhattan. The pay is very good however. The company was recently purchased by Merck. It maybe a risky time.
Cons
Very expensive housing, I found my 2-br apartment for $2000/month. The company was recently purchased by Merck. It maybe a risky time.
Advice to Senior Management
this is not my area of expertise. I am not sure. The company was recently purchased by Merck. It maybe a risky time.
Pros
Overall the company was a nice place to work but the department I worked for had management problems.
Cons
Depends on the department, no room for growth and did not show appreciation for work well done.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciation is often more highly rated than monetary advancement.
Pros
Collegial atmosphere (excepting a few bad apples), easy access to management
Cons
You need to negotiate your salary/perks/grade while joining. Once you are in, moving up is not easy. Feedback and things to do to get to the next step, from management, are hard to come by.
Advice to Senior Management
More clarity on integration
Pros
Excellent pay
Holiday Shut Down
Decent learning experience
Tuition Reimbursment - they paid for my masters degree.
Good people to work with
Strong desire to succeed part of culture
Cons
Pressure to succeed extremely high
Expectation of being available at all hours of the day and night.
Work life balance - near impossible to raise a family
Advice to Senior Management
Slow it down a little bit. The job can still get done without working at 2 am from home. It's not worth risking family and health
