    Pros

Great benefits - great medical. Discounted stock is nice. Training opportunities are available. Advancement opportunities are there but depends what dept you are in.

    Cons

Low salaries compared to the market, management turnover is high resulting in repeating process changes that were already tried and failed. Knowledge sharing is a problem. Layoffs (which can also be pro because they weed out low performers). In a steady company climate, poor performers often just get shifted around and not released (typical big company legality). Strong sense of no one cares about you regardless of what you bring to the table.

    Advice to Management

Allow your superb performers to advance in their careers.

    Pros

Lots of work, can be challenging to keep up. Compensation is about average in the industry, benefits are good, well managed. Diverse ethnic range of employees. Going into the field can be very interesting to see how the equipment is used. Top notch facilities in the field and at the product centers.

    Cons

Corporate culture is typical, casual business dress normally, jobs can be split up and too narrow in focus, cubicles are the norm. Too much training that is not always applicable to what you might be doing. Layoffs can occur whenever the oil market is down, SLB will let you go no matter what, stock price is more important than workers.

    Advice to Management

Provide more career oriented training, and not so much that just benefits the company. Value employees for the long haul, not just for short term stock price stabilizing.

    Pros

    Good training, good pay.
A typical day at work is usually busy with a lot to do most especially when there are deadlines to meet.
Great to work with a set of like-minded and technically competent co-workers.

Hardest part of the job is having to work with Managers who have little appreciation for effort/time put in on the job.

    Cons

Upper management mostly oblivious to the concerns of the average worker. Hardest part of the job is having to work with Managers who have little appreciation for effort/time put in on the job. Quite a lot of unqualified folks in middle management.

    Advice to Management

Room for advancement but terrible work/life balance. Work a lot of hours. Management is always changing sometimes making it very difficult to deal with so many different managers.
