I have been working at Schlumberger full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent training, international locations, multinational culture, great benefits, decent salary and great bonuses, you have a lot of say in where your career goes in terms of location and function

    Cons

Lifestyle is tough, you live in remote places, 24/7 on-call is tiring, you need to be easily mobile (they can move you whenever), very high workload, high stress due to the time-sensitivity of operations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work-life balance is always a challenge with Schlumberger. Your life can be absorbed by Schlumberger if you are not careful. Management should work to address the high attrition rate and create a better environment for work-life balance.

I have been working at Schlumberger full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

technical excellence and training are at your fingertips. people are open minded and there is a true community culture, sharing best practices worldwide. LEAN principles. borderless careers. objectives-oriented plans. yearly open performance reviews and incentives. the higher you go on the hierarchy, the smarter the people get - promise!

    Cons

HR is the achille's heel: new positions are given with no warning, although all the time to adapt needed is provided.
there is no transparency about salaries across the company, HR is usually obscure to reach frank information about your status.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

top management to spend more time side by side with the employees, not just as a visit but actually sharing their worries or prides.

    Recommends
