I have been working at Schlumberger full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It seems that they have a great safety culture. I learned CPR and general first aid which is great anywhere in life.

    Cons

I quit my previous job of 8 years being that I was offered a job at Schlumberger as a temp to hire in a frac crew in williston. Upon completing orientation (2 weeks away from home) and having my flight tickets already purchased, 2 days away from starting field work I was notified that I was going to be apart of the hiring freeze that they announced during the first day of training. Mind you my first interview took place 2 months ago. I am disgusted and have to go out and find other means to pay my mortgage and all my other bills etc. You can imagine how my family has been impacted by this company. Tears have been shed today at my house. Thanks for being completely unreliable schlumberger.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better planning with bringing in new hires while oil prices plunge. It's heart breaking putting everything I've worked so hard for on the line and never being given the opportunity to create my own value with a simple opportunity to work hard.

I have been working at Schlumberger full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Intensive training program, many career opportunities, possibility to move between many locations worldwide, multicultural & multinational, multidisciplinary approach, compensation package (base salary, bonus, pension plan etc), access to eletronic library (books, articles etc), knowledge sharing, management by objectives, recognized in the industry

    Cons

Working extra hours, working under constant pressure, transfers between locations (each 2-7 years) causing need of adaptin to new environments.
Working in this company may be really stressfull. The balance between work and personal life is often not acceptable (by experience - from 8 am to 8-10 pm for a non-field employee). Constant moving between locations with the entire families for some people is also difficult to handle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To respect the vision of management by objectives
To introduce a practice of annual managers evaluation by employees
