    Dedicated Driver (Former Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

    Pros-great miles
    -benifits
-lots of driving postitions and options
-work closely with dot to eliminate hassles

Cons-they are cheap when it comes to equipment, always fix, never wanting to upgrade trucks
-they stress safety a little too much, very strict when it comes to driving on every little aspect
-sensors installed in truck to moniter everything gets annoying and sometime in-accurate

Advice to Senior Managementupgrade trucks and stop stressing so much over safety, because sometimes the truck sensor goes off when it is not supposed too. it is not a perfect system

Wasted 7 years with Schneider always hoped it would get better

    Driver (Former Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

ProsNewer equipment for the most part

ConsPoor management- I only had one good dbl (driver business leader) in the seven years I was with Schneider. The worst one was when I was on dedicated Jc penney in Forest Park Ga. She was so dumb she didn't even know it. I proved it to her on several occasions
Poor pay due to poor management- Can't make money if truck isn't moving.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet some people ie, dbls that know more about trucking than we are allowed to drive 11 hrs per day in a 14 hr period. My dbl once told me that I was idling my truck to much. I told her it was 90 degrees. She told me to strip naked if i had too. I think Schneider needs some real leaders. Ones that lead by example. Let Heather get her sorry fat butt in truck and strip naked for a week and not
Idle in the summer. Install apu's on trucks if your so concerned with idle time

for such a large company, why cant they pay their employees better

    General Mechanic (Current Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

ProsIt's a large company with many different positions available. Also, schneider is a stable company that most likely will never go out of business.

ConsIf they could see you as a person and see what you actually do every day and pay you for what you actually do, the morale would be a lot better. I dont want to quit working for them, but since I can go right down the street and make a lot more money it's kinda hard to stay.

Okay place to work as long as you hit your numbers

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

ProsVery well respected company in the industry. You will have lots of opportunities to get additional training and support as materials are made readily available.

ConsManagement is sometimes shaky on how they relay information to the employees. Promotion opportunities are sometimes far and few between

Advice to Senior Managementmake corporate communications stick at every level, and provide a more clear focused path for career advancement within the organization

REASONS TO FIRE CHRIS LOFGREN AND WHY

    TRAINING ENGINEER/TRUCK DRIVER (Former Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

ProsSchneider has a liberal hiring policy which allows even the greenest of new drivers to gain a positive place in the trucking industry, there are many great and honest people who work at the Operating Centers who are willing to go out of his or her way to insure that any problem a new or seasoned driver comes in contact with or develops can be quickly and efficiently dealt with. I have had my share of positive situations that could have been ultimately negative had it not been for the quick and resourceful reactions of another OC employee. In particular, the Harrisburg, Pa OC, and the West Memphis, AR OC.

ConsThe upper level management didn't give a care about the drivers, the structure of seniority was very poorly handled, and too many times, outside interests were allowed to influence the decisions made at the corporate office. In particular, the Schneider Finance department is a crooked bunch of people who insure that a driver is approved for a purchase, allow that driver to spend his hard earned money fixing up those pieces of garbage they call lease to own trucks, then when all problems are worked out, they cut the mileages the "owner" gets so he or she can default on his/her payments and then they send the repossession man to pick it up and they resell it at a higher price.

Advice to Senior ManagementQUIT YOUR JOBS, get someone in there who CARES about the people who make the company successful, THE DRIVERS, and the DRIVERS, and The DRIVERS.
