Good first sales opportunity, use the job to get a better job, limited upward mobility

    Account Executive (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsThe benefits of working at Schneider are a relaxed environment in the freight game. Decent young culture and a good spot to learn sales basics. Opportunity to make big checks if you can land good accounts.

ConsThe problem with Schneider is there is no upward growth. You need to spend 4 years as a low rung sales rep in order to "make it" to an inside sales lead. Management puts no value in rep development or churn metrics. The worst part of the job is the constant short sighted views of management, they don't value talent.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest and keep your talent that thinks at a higher level to build a better management team.

    Overwhelming

    Human Resources Representative (Former Employee)
    Elwood, IL

ProsLots of free stuff and food frequently. Some of the other employees I worked with were awesome. Schneider Corporate is amazing and takes care of their people. Schneider Logistics is the problem child of the company.

ConsManagement and communication is drastically lacking. If they want to get rid of you they make it their mission! If you accept a job continue to apply other places.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your act together.

    Solid Company

    Operations Manager (Current Employee)
    Green Bay, WI

ProsThis is a stable company that generally does a good job living up to its values of safety, integrity, respect and excellence.

ConsVery tight with money. Yearly increases are not in line with the published program. Ex) You and your entire staff can qualify for 8% increases but the budget is never more than 3% . . . so no matter how well you are rated you are never getting a significant salary increase.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote more from within. Don't take your long term associates for granted. If someone's annual performance appraisal puts him/her in a specific salary increase category then budget enough to pay that person what he has earned.

Whatever the recruiter tells you..get in writing

    Dedicated Driver (Current Employee)
    South Boston, VA

ProsSchneider National itself (ie Charlotte office) really has it together..thorough training..good benefits

ConsDedicated offices very poorly ran, poor communication between warehouse and main office..breakdown in company policy and procedure, alot of "passing the buck" with little results in the end..trucks poorly taken care of constant issues which delay routes

Advice to Senior ManagementBridge the gap between main office and dedicated offices..honor what recruiter tells prospective employees..follow through on complaints promptly

fun place for recent college grads

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prosa good place to get experience and start a carrer, you are pushed to want to like management, no further sales jobs above it unless you want to move into management.

Consneed to be wiling and ready to cold a lot, not all management has the same agenda and is clear with you on what they expect.

    Schneider National, Logistics, Chicago, Il

Inside Sales Account Executive (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsThe environment and people are great, good team atmosphere, mentorship is a big part of training, and the logistics side of the corporation is growing rapidly. There is opportunity to make money, but you must put in the grueling effort of 150-200 cold calls a day.

ConsLack of a clear vision. Management has differing views of what direction to go. Well some managers stress the importance of servicing customers, others clearly just care about the bottom dollar, and integrity can be called into question. Have witnessed managers lie to customers in order to make a few extra dollars. Most sellers burn out within 12 months.

Advice to Senior ManagementClearer vision, is it about service or making the most money?
